Terania's Clutchmother

Unread post by Azunara »

Okay, normally, I'm the one naming, not the one needing the name, but here you guys go! With the rumors of the Clutchmother going, I pulled out my little blood elf, abandoned her instancing wolf and headed out to Darkshore to nab myself the Clutchmother. So, after setting her in NPCscan, I'm on my way, and few seconds on in, BAM! There's the clutchmother.

Attempt One, fail. Stun and I have to try again. Feign, take another shot, then this time, trying to kill off the little helpers. My Xperl was bad, so it showed me at 100, but when I ended attempt two I was 2.3 percent. Shot three ends with the last strider dead. Tame, fail. Lash again. Go for it another time, 6 seconds, it's a practical Krush moment where I hope I'm not stunned/feared...One second...shrinking, she's mine.

So, onto the problem. I have no idea what to name this one. She's female, and all of my pets on this character follow a fiery theme. Phoenix the Dragonhawk, Pyro the Hawkstrider, Ashes the Whelpling, Ember the Wind serpent, and of course, Terania Novaria. (Nova reminds me of super novas...)

Also, if you could suggest a name for a future ghost saber, male, also following a fiery theme, I'd appreciate it. I'd also like to avoid foriegn languages, just because I can't pronounce them. xD

Sorry about the massive, picky request. Much thanks, guys!

As I was reading, the name that came to mind was Ember, because of that glowy orange chest... but I see you already have it. So I'd say Coal. It looks cool (like her blue feathers) but is really red-hot on the inside. :)

For a ghost saber to have a name reminiscent of fire, I'd almost say it'd have to do with steam or something to that effect. Hmm. I'm drawing a blank, sorry. :(

While I can't think of anything myself, I can suggest a place to help you look. I use it all the time. Here it is. I generally search for meaning.

For example, for my Clutchmother, I typed in "mother" for the meaning and got Umamayha. I think it fits pretty well.

Hope it helps!

(I listed a few names twice because they sounded a bit more unisex to me)

For your clutchmother:
Combustia - A feminine play on the word "combust".
Cinder
Soot
Singe
Charcoal
Tephra - Fragmental, rock-like material formed by volcanos. It is also Greek for "ash".
Lapilli - A small type of "tephra", often no bigger than a pebble.

For the ghost saber:
Halon - From halomethane gas. Used to extinguish fires. Just for the irony of it.
Soot
Singe
Charcoal
Igneos/Ignis - Latin for "fire". I know you didn't want any names from different languages, but these seemed relatively easy to pronounce.
Felsic - A categorization name given to lavas that are very viscous.

I rather like Halon and Tephra. Halon is highly ironic, and it sounds neat. And Tephra is also just awesome. Thanks a bunch, guys, for your help! *hugs*
