Found another one yesterday - tried to name my Undead Hawk Hitchcock.

Hitchcock is reserved

. I didn't try alternate spellings (like Hitchcok)

So I went with Alfred - that one is OK!

Hardly. I don't want to see a pet named P**is (Uncensor that in your mind) or TurboNegro or things like that. Or any variation of a racist term. I'll ignore most things, even if they make me cringe, but outright bad is bad.

I agree, I always use á é í ó ú if there's a restricted name that I really like -- Players can't really complain, provided that it's not insulting and that the first 3-4 characters used are regular letters (like if something is named "ángrycat" then you can't /target it without knowing the á keystroke, whereas if it was named "angrýcat" then players can get away with typing "/tar angr".)

I consider this is common courtesy when naming, I can't express how much it annoys me when you're PvPing and some guy named "çræêpýløsèr" runs around the corner in WSG and I want to "/tar" him and check his health/casting/target - as to anticipate where he's running - I don't play priest but this would've especially be the case when using Mind Vision.

You won't get banned for using the - á é í ó ú - worst case, you'll have to rename the pet (I would just replace the á with an à), but i've never had to rename anything, ever, and it's been a little under 6 years now.

We don't ignore it cause names like that are against ToS, whether you care about it or not.

Hm.. let me quote the types of names deemed inappropriate by Blizzard themselves. These go against the ToU, and thus, ARE REPORTABLE.

Once again, not only are most of these things offensive and at the very least tasteless, it IS reportable.

So you're trying to say that if I see someone with a pet name (or character name for that matter) that is a racial slur, sexist, obscene, etc. etc. that it makes me 'wound up' and a 'sad little person' when I report them? I fail to see how. I pay my $15 a month for this game and I'd rather not have to deal with people who are racist/etc. and feel the need to display it on an MMORPG with the intent to offend people. Even if they think it's a joke, I don't, and neither does Blizzard.

I don't mind 'Ipwnyoo' or 'LOLCAT', or even people who don't name their pets. They are entitled to their own names because they pay their $15. But when I see someone with a rude, vulgar or prejudice name I will not hesitate to report it.

Actually, it's blizzard that asks the players to help them keep an eye out for those things. Thats why we have the 'report' button just like on a forums. Mods/GMs cant see everything.

Can someone confirm the Lion-King names? In vanilla I had a friend who had Mufasa. (Or a similar name.) For his cat pet.

I think I had tried to name a pet, "Deadmire," and it wouldn't go through. I just wanted to name my Nether Ray after the subzone in Zangar. :[

If anyone else could attempt to confirm, that would be great. I want to help make this list as extensive as possible. ^__^

"Duchess" is reserved.

Which is a real shame, because although I understand that Blizzard wants to prevent us from giving ourselves titles through our pets, things like "Duke" and "Duchess" actually are commonly used pet names.

That's odd...I had a friend with a Devilsaur named Duchess...of course, that was in the earlier WotLK days...it might've been added later...

They may only reserve the REALLY well known ones like Optimus and Megatron.
