Faolette's Tricky White Kitty

Unread post by FlightofthePhoenix »

My hunter needs a new name for a pet white lion. Originally he was named after the Ghost Saber that came before, Myst. (Yes, I hated giving up that Ghost Saber). I think Myst is too feminine though.
For a brief description: He was a tough tame, a spawn in Winterspring. He is generally goofy.
I'm thinking a Russian or African name, or something descriptive.

For reference, here are my other pet names.
Decimen (Ravager)
Ed (Hyena)
Sandstorm (Cat) No longer with me
Beast (Corehound)
Firebug (Wasp)

That might help give a sense of what kind of names I go for. Thanks for your help!

Right now I'm going with Lavan, because it's Hebrew, and means white. Still not sure though. I don't want to give off a religious feel. I also wanted something with a bit more oomph. So far my scan of names that mean white, lion, silver, or Russian or African names has not given me quite the right feel. I really need inspiration. Thank ye kindly!

Hmm, perhaps instead of looking for names that mean White, you could try Mist. Here's a few results of a Free Translation site and putting 'Mist' in for various languages:

Tåge - Danish
Utu - Finnish
Nebel - German
Hazo - Hausa
туман - Russian

Oo, I like Hazo and Nebel. The Russian one, I wouldn't know how to input. But when the cooldown's done I'll try Hazo. Wild sounding, but not too long. Never had this much trouble with a name before. Well, except my own.

I named my white lion Maahes after the Egyptian lion god - a.k.a "The Lord of the Slaughter".
Maahes us the male mate of Bast, the cat goddess of war and the sun.

I named mine, “Tafari,” which means “he who inspires awe” in Amharic (Eastern African). Rastafarians (Ras Tafari meaning “king Tafari”) revere him as the earthly incarnation of God. http://www.behindthename.com/name/tafari

I think it’s rather fitting. ;)
