Im trying to make my account (sign ups are down atm)

when they are back up, what should I do and stuff? beginner stuff.

Well, atm, FR is not taking any new members until the issues get solved with the current heavy load. Hopefully the issues will be fixed with the new servers/power, and that the bugs can get worked out of the system.
However, as to your questions on what to do when you sign up, check out the FR member's list, as it has a guide on the first post. (as well as the general FR thread, on the first page)

I'm new to the site too. if you breed right away, bear in mind you have to tend the egg(s) every day. mine died because i didn't know.
