Not really giraffe OR hex as giraffe is the primary and hex the secondary. :P

If you do decide to go for that cracked, kind of mosaic-y look, I'd probably choose giraffe/hex over pie/paint simply in terms of the former genes selling a little better than the latter. I also feel that ripple/current would be good options. I, personally, don't feel that pie/paint achieve the look you mentioned. I was going to suggest crackle as a tert, but yikes, that gene is a little overbearing. Lace is kind of pretty for a "this is the fancy design on the fine china" kind of look. Runes also has that effect. I like your idea of smoke for the dirt; stained is kind of pretty and could sort of be a "dirty layer"; orca thylacine is interesting and I can kind of see how the shadowing looks a bit like dirt (kinda cool looking paired with ripple/current); orca circuit is faint enough that it looks more like "dirt" than electricity.

And just to help visualize my word spiel, some previews. :P

I would appreciate some feedback on my bios layout. The first four dragons in my lair have been done this way, but I don't want to move forward until I'm sure about it

hmm what to do I am seriously considering getting rid of these two.. I know i spend A LOT gening the dad and he IS a 7 digit.. but the colors are not really me.. It was fun when the petal/butterfly was a new thing but not sure now..I know i will never get back what i spend on the boy, buying him and regening him but i am just out of love with them

Image Image

what would you do? just consider your losses and sell them for what ever I can get?

Honestly Tarn, I'd sell them if you're not really in love with them anymore! You got joy out of them for a while, and there's no use clinging to dragons that no longer make you happy just because a long time ago you spent a lot of money on them. All that treasure is in the past.

Though, I'm infamous for spending lots of treasure on dragons that I get tired of a week later, so that does impact my decisions.

Tarn I agree with Lupis, if they don't speak to you don't keep them

So as you guys have seen I've started looking into making bird-themed skydancer pairs since scales gives them a beak-like look. I currently have a blackbird (or starling!) pair and just bought the makings of some crows/ravens. I would love some ideas and maybe scries of other bird species I could try! Any bird you think would work :D

Hyacint Macaw - Tundra Lapis/Lapis/ Black or Skydancer Lapis/Blue/Black. Maybe shadow eyes to mimic the black eyes.. or brown

Oooooh I never thought about those gene combos. Those are awesome already!
And with the eye colours, I'd have preferred to breed them in my lair for simplicity but if people are willing to let me borrow nests for "better" eyes then I'll consider it :D

Um. Real life bird combos or FR birds too?
I have one who is being patterned after the Peacock Firebird in FR.

And I've this lady

Edit: Sorry one more.
She's a little dark with crimson but was too bright with red

Real life birds please :) Preferably ones that can be mimicked nicely with scales. So things like robins might not work.
I like your cardinal girl! Might play around with it myself for looks, particularly with the orange-ish bill and feet.

Thanks for the input so far! I've been toying with owls in the meantime :D
Possible horned owl

Snowy owl

And thinking on it, if other breeds work too feel free to show me! Like Tarn's macaw tundra :)

Thinking of getting a dragon based on one of my favourite characters, Black Baron but I'm unsure of genes and colors .

Vare -
This is what my red /red /oilslick (his tert is actually charcoal but it's too light for cardinal) male looks like when done the cardinal way like my crim girl
Image
You could use oilslick or obsidian. Lead also looked really good. Iridescent had too much orange & yellow on the male and female models in my opinion which is why I am going w/metallic /alloy on Malice.

Bullock's Oriole
Saffron iri /black seraph /antique scales
ImageImage

Quail
Grey clown /peregrine tan /cream underbelly. This is guy was a toughy to do. You could easily do a belly accent to match or have someone make one for you.
ImageImage

And I agree with Syleye on the combo Nef.

need ideas on how to gene my moss dweller druid boy :D

Image

genes im allowed to give him - i prefer to keep his secondary as shimmer i think.. unless you can come up with a look which is better :D :

Primary Genes: Basic, Tiger, Clown, Speckle, Ripple, Bar, Vipera, Piebald, Cherub, Giraffe, Jupiter, Iridescent, Falcon

Secondary Genes: Basic, Stripes, Freckle, Current, Daub, Paint, Peregrine, Toxin, Hex, Saturn, Shimmer

Tertiary Gene:Basic, Underbelly Smoke, Spines, Okapi, Thylacine, Stained, Contour.

plus special for his pack : Crackle, gembond and runes.

Petals, Butterfly Skink, Spinner,Glimmer, Poison & Toxin are allowed but only where the genes don't add a too bright hue to the colors - and i would like to stay away from gem genes :P
