Re: Stag family CONFIRMED
So let's have a beauty contest between pets. Chimaeron vs Shoveltusks. The hydra abomination vs the Night Elf Druid that failed to transform into a stag.

Re: Stag family CONFIRMED
Mm Chimaeron. He's way cuter than...whatever the night elf did to his body. I didn't think night elves being contortionists was a thing probably why I won't be taming one. They scare me. If I've got to go the long way around to get past a herd of them, so be it. Plus, unless I've missed something, we know for certain that Chimaeron is tameable, at least for now so....PorrasouxRex wrote:So let's have a beauty contest between pets. Chimaeron vs Shoveltusks. Re: Stag family CONFIRMED
^ thiiissss. I thought they were kind of cool until I was running my alt through some quests where I had to deal with them. i got a good close look at their faces for the first time... and left the zone soon after. I can only hope that this guys brothers were not able to track my movements in hopes of revenge after I went into hiding. Too creepy for me!SpiritBinder wrote:Yeah idk, I always found their face eerily creepy, it's almost 2 humanoid for me with that long flat face and them beady eyescowmuflage wrote:You know what? Re: Stag family CONFIRMED
Someone should edit that and make it say "Does this look like the face of mercy?"

I did find that Wowpedia has kept a copy of the official WotLK bestiary, which I think no longer exists on the Blizzard site.
http://wowpedia.org/The_Wrath_of_the_Li ... Shoveltusk
Their description reads:While shoveltusks are clearly not meant to represent real-world beasts it does give some insight into what the creators were thinking regarding them. The powerful and ferocious shoveltusk are easily identified by the massive curved antler which protrudes from their heads and the twin sloping tusks that extend from their jaw. The moose-like beasts use their tusks primarily to dig for food, whereas the antler makes for a fearsome ramming weapon in contests to establish dominance over other males.
The shoveltusk are territorial and will protect their feeding grounds with deadly force. Adventurers traveling in Northrend would be wise to avoid these cantankerous and unpredictable beasts.
There's also the original concept art here:
Yeah, I mean.. I like the faces in an "old man" way, but that in turn makes them less beastlike, and too humanoidish. It gives sort of a "human face on animal" type feeling. So I probably would've liked it if they went with the head on the concept art. It would have been a really cool beast then.

I thought I see if I could find a bigger pic of the shoveltusk concept art, but no luck. But I did stumble across the concept art so someone else that I don't recall seeing before.
I was all "Hmmmm I've seen you some where before... Now where was it...."
Hmhhhh...

Re: Stag family CONFIRMED
The shoveltusk's bizarre WTF AM I vibe is half the reason I love them haha. That and that wild bizarre antler/tusk combo. Its neat Blizz thought them moose-like. Wow needs more meese.
Re: Stag family CONFIRMED
I love the kind of squeaky door, almost piggy noises they make too. They're just very off-beat.

Shoveltusks would be awesome lol But I wonder if Zhevras and horses made it in to this category? Probably not, but there are wild horses in Grizzly Hills.

The shoveltusks do have a "long face", but it really doesn't look humanoid to me. It almost reminds me of a bison.
I've been wanting to tame one since I first saw one at level 70... there's no good reason not to let us tame them along with all the new mammals that have been added!

Oh, I'm not against them being tameable. Just that I personally would probably not get one. Or I would.. their "grumpy old man" face does make me chuckle.
"Getoffmahlawn" the level 100 shoveltusk.
