I know I'm sounding like a broken record here but ... still no update on tamable frogs? The expansion release is almost upon us and I fear our little froggie friends have been cast aside or simply forgotten. They were one of the few beast species I was really hoping for.

I agree I'd like the golden saber and the albino lioness with red eyes. Xunsu, my little white cat, is actually meant to be an albino cat and this model would fit it a lot more. Plus, I love the golden saber cat model. That dawnsaber mount night elves have. I'd like that as a pet. Perhaps someone should tweet to Muffinus about this. There's loads of pretty cat models that haven't been added.

Like those glowly cats that look like solid versions of those spirit beast kitties. You could have an isle of the dead, with these as challenge games, but don't make them spectral, so they stand out from the crowd.

I wouldn't take that as a confirmation of tameabilty. That, to me, comes off as 'I'll get around to explaining them soon'.

Have you seen Hypnocroak?? A rare spawn frog in SMV. They actually went to the effort of putting what look like Darkmoon Faire eyeballs in place of normal frog eyes. He's fantastic :)

Sorry for double post but are the fully armored new chimera still actually tamable??? They show on the front page as being tamable still but thought Blizz got rid of them or just made them with only the saddle.

The only ones were changed to only have a saddle...from what I heard a recent build made em untameable...likely due to a glitch where players could tame them with the orc rider still attached.

I'm loving the new boar model so so much! Kuuipo is gettin' an upgrade! That is my fav so far and I cannot wait! The new wasp model is another fav as is the Dreaenor talbuk. I've got my eye on the red wasp and the brown talbuk. And I'm so happy for everyone who's been dying for hydras. I never really cared about them myself but I know so many do so I'm happy just the same. Of course I'm going to tame one just in case I end up falling for him or her. :)

Other than that I'm not super floored by the new pets. Isn't 4 new families less than what previous expansions have given us? But we don't know much about rares and challenge tames (do we?) and those are usually really great so I'm staying optimistic.

They won't be updating any old NPCs. The new ones are for Draenor.

They only just updated the cat model in MoP with the new MoP tigers and the likes. If your referring to pre existing models (such as vanilla models etc.) no, they will neveR replace them, they never have done that and never will. They will continue to create new updated versions of them, but any current "block kitten" will always be a block kitten unless you choose to tame one that isn't, simple as that.

I'd be very surprised if they replaced them too, unless they decided on a whole-world graphics makeover. There are people who like the models they already have, and this way all options are available.

One thing that I could imagine happening was a model touch-up though. A while back one of the devs discussed this with reference to blocky critter minipets, that not only new ones are being introduced but that they may consider adding a few more polygons to the old ones and smoothing them out without really changing their look. Whether it ever happens is another story, I think it was just a pie-in-the-sky comment, but who knows? :)

I remember that cause a lot of people dont like the blocks or the jagged teeth/whiskers.

Honestly I'd love if they did a whole-world graphics makeover. The trees alone in WoD are so amazing compared to vanilla/bc. I love the current sabers and coyotes to name a few, and would hate for them to be changed in any way, but if they'd just make the textures look superior and would smooth out the edges they'd still keep the look. I know that's wishing for a lot though as that'd be a HUGE project but... I can dream. The whole world would just look so neat. Going back to places like Ashenvale or Hillsbrad and seeing them in HD..

I think the world itself certainly does need it more than npcs though. Walking into a zone with lush, highly detailed grass and trees etc. would totally make up for the randomly placed, low-texture wolves roaming around.
