Flag for Non-PVP? Answered
I remember hearing or reading something during the first few weeks of WoD buzz that there was going to be a system implemented to keep people who have no desire to PvP from getting accidentally flagged-I think this was going to be something added to settings?
So say I am using a lightning AOE on a group of mods and someone runs in while flagged, I accidentally target and zap at them I get flagged for PVP, or they get into my chain lightning and suddenly I am pvp without meaning to be. With this setting however-I won't be able to hit them or get automatically tagged for PVP.
Has this been implemented?

Re: Flag for Non-PVP?
As far as I remember you have to flag yourself or something like that.

Re: Flag for Non-PVP?
I know in game right now you can either flag yourself, but you can also be automatically flagged if you do something such as:
Heal someone who is flagged
Accidentally target and hit someone who is flagged (for me on all of my caster toons, where I have my main first attacks macroed to auto target and save time in raids, this can be infuriating).
One of the interviews I think it was, made it sound like they were planning on doing something to fix this for those of us who despise pvp.

Yes, on normal realms you'll have to physically flag yourself in order to PvP, so you won't accidentally right click on opposing players or knick them with an AoE or anything anymore.

Yup yup! Unless you go /pvp, you will NOT be flagged.

This is awesome news! The reason I play on a RP normal realm is that I DON'T want to be flagged for PvP, unless I click that myself.Junrei wrote:Yup yup! Unless you go /pvp, you will NOT be flagged.

This also means that there is no need to worry about the pvp zone near the WoD capital cities in non pvp servers.

Actually if you go into a contested zone, you will still get flagged. BUT if you don't go in it, you'll be fine.cowmuflage wrote:This also means that there is no need to worry about the pvp zone near the WoD capital cities in non pvp servers.

Re: Flag for Non-PVP? Answered
One thing here: you *also* used to get flagged for PVP if you healed/interacted with a PVP ally. Is *that* still an issue?
Because if not, does that mean that a non-PVP person can chain-heal a PVP'ing player as they... well... PVP, without having to worry about the other side being able to do anything against them? Or does it mean you can't heal a PVP'ed player without setting yourself PVP as well?
That second one will be hilarious in raids if someone comes off a battleground.

Nope. You won't be able to heal or attack someone else flagged unless you're flagged yourself.

People waiting for LFG in battlegrounds are going to get a terrible surprise, aren't they?

That almost makes me want to get into LFR just to see the tank go "WTF?!" as he suddenly can't be healed. Unless being in dungeons automatically un-sets PVP now.

Re: Flag for Non-PVP? Answered
It does for raids, probably dungeons too. I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but I remember people whining a LOT about going into a raid and getting flagged for PvP because they healed or buffed someone who decided to wait for the raid inside a BG, or doing some world PvP, and then going into the raid flagged. And that was back in Vanilla too.
Re: Flag for Non-PVP? Answered
For some time now, going into a dungeon or raid has removed your PvP flag.Kurasu wrote:That almost makes me want to get into LFR just to see the tank go "WTF?!" as he suddenly can't be healed. Unless being in dungeons automatically un-sets PVP now.
