Little glimmer seems to go down into the jade area, his tracks went down there but kept phasing out. Going backwards seems odd so I do hope they change it so that you are actually tracking the beast, not wondering how he is walking backwards so perfectly and fast

It's a talent. :D I think Blizz is considering making it baseline; completely forgot. My brain is only processing rares atm. ;)

I love this!!! I can;t wait to go and find Savage!!
This will also reduce the big issues of Hunter greifing. I had it happen to much in Cata, and now I'm much happier!!

Erm... no?

Readiness was replaced with Dire Beast quite some time ago. O_o (At least I'm pretty sure it was Dire Beast that replaced it)

Unless I'm missing something, and my screen shows the wrong talents?

Correct, but, at least according to the Wowhead calcs, it's now a baseline ability for all hunters, learned at 60

Ahhh, no, it was Blink Strike that was added and Dire Beast was moved to that tier.

There we go. ;) That happened a couple of builds ago; my apologies.

So if I am reading this right, we will have to track them via their tracks, use flare to find them before we can tame them? They are invisible until they are in the flare, and then when in the flare, anyone can attack and perhaps even tame them?

Oy ve.

Is the white tiger the only of that skin in the game too?

All of the new rares are unique skinned. So yes :)

Correct - so the idea is to flare when there aren't other players around. Only hunters can see the tracks, so they're the only true competition.

That is better then what I was thinking at least, so we won't have to deal with griefers coming after them just to toy with hunters. Still a little disappointed that I wont be able to get my pink crane right away like I was hoping, but at least I won't have random DKs just killing the shiny silver/gold dragon.

Yeah, to non-hunters, it'll be too much work to bother griefing hunters with this method of tracking. :)

I don't know if anyone else has had this happen already but I'm posting it here bc it has me hopeful. U know that unused Skoll model that's been posted since Wrath on here? Well when I hit Dire Beast in a dungeon a bit ago and that model popped out. Stunned me so bad I stood in stupid and died on the boss. It was definitely not a skoll copy. It was the lighter version of him. But it made me wonder if anyone else has noticed unused models coming out of dire beast.

Maybe a hint at what's to come?

There are already mobs in Pandaria using that model, they're called Thundermaw, and there's a bunch of them in the Vale. See this topic for details:

I'm compiling maps but it takes time as these guys span entire zones.
Savage is complete. Everything else: hugely incomplete!

http://sneakysams.blogspot.com/p/hunter-pet-paths.html

I won't post any maps directly because I know some people want to find them.

Edit: I was tracking Portent's tracks near the five sisters and all around the west end of the area, but it's all phased, so I can't properly track it (but I could see them with Eagle Eye). Would need nice hunter who has unlocked the August Celestial dailies (I think that unphases all) and wants to track him. I saw his tracks near where Kal'tik the Blight spawns, going up towards 5 sisters and whatnot.

YUP.

They all seem to have that in common. The ones who DON'T cover entire zones are the ones who share zones with another rare, at least at this stage. And even then...their paths are huge.

I can help with that at some point, I've got that area unphased and I've actually tracked Portent walking almost the entirety of the west side now to some extent.
I was going to make a map via screenshotting every few steps on the map but then I realized that didn't seem very efficient, so now I'm not sure how to do it. XD

These maps are excellent! Lord knows I won't remember them well so I'll be doing a decent amount of tracking myself, but having a visual clue as to the area is very nice.

I just got the green version of Portent over by the 5 sisters. I was tracking him on the east and the tracks disappeared. Another Hunter in the Petopia guild told me to come over to the west and then helped me find him. The Hunter's name was Shenpao or something like that.
