Bloodtooth's tracks are still backwards. Very visible to see even with ground clutter on and water on good. I'll admit I started shaking when I noticed the first one. I havent' been that excited over taming a rare in a long time. It was great. :D

They do, actually, but yes, it's against the spirit of the taming mechanic.
Yeah I hope they don't end up with IDs. I don't want an addon going off near tracks or anything. I'm fine with an NPC overlay type thing that would show up on your mini map but that's it. With the exception of the mob not actually dropping tracks at all I hope to see it kept like it is now. An actual hunt makes getting the pets finally that much sweeter!

I'd never tracked any of the beasts before on the beta and I didn't know the pathing very well, so as soon as I saw the first track made by Savage I flipped out. Luckily, no one else seemed to be looking. It took me around half an hour to find him though. I lost the tracks every now and again, thank god I remembered to follow them backwards though. But omg I'm so in love with him. (Or her, since mine is a female.)

Likewise. I've only turned up one object ID so far, and I hope the others remain obscure and unknown. I was only after Savage myself and was happy not to need the visual, but I can see this being exploited.

Agreed, though on the plus side, it's only useful for noting that the rare is up and that it's within five minutes in one direction or the other. It's no guarantee that they'll find other tracks or the beast itself. So even hunters who try to do this won't be benefitting much from it, thankfully. :)

As of today (06.10,2012) Patrannache's tracks are still backwards. Not sure if anyone has done it already, and the thread is really too long to go through, but i'm attaching a pic of the track, so you see what to expect ingame. Ground clutter is on the lowest possible. Also worth noting that his "not leaving tracks at some places" thing is more like: "He doesn't leave tracks at a lot of places". Tracked him from the bridge near the silk place, all the way to his northeastern spawnpoint, and i lost track of him 5-6 times.

As of 10/7/12 Hexapos tracks are still backwards. Found him today while questing purely by accident and took about 15 minutes following him around. But now I have a awesome white and pink fen strider!!!

Ah, finally found a place that'll help an old hunter find what the pets he's looking for. Already found the goat though.

Great guidelines and guide. Took me about 10-15 minutes each in the last two nights to tame Savage and Bloodtooth. The fun part now is having other hunters on the server asking me to help them find them to tame.

Sargman (Void Elf) Terokkar
Serkrun (Orc) Dentarg
Untamabull (Tauren) Area 52
Sargmar (Blood Elf) Alexstrasza

If you're taking my posts 100% seriously, you're probably 150% too serious to read them.

I must confess though, I had to get rid of Dante the Molten Front Scorpid for Bloodtooth.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet. You can catch the green Portent in a freezing trap. I checked blue, purple and red, too, but you can't trap those. I trapped three different green Portents and had the hunters I rehomed them too trap them, too.

The others have been trapped before. Perhaps you tried trapping them while they weren't flared?

No I didn't have them in flare, but my green one wasn't either like you can see in the screenshot. Strange thing ;)

They can be trapped. Funny thing about trapping them, though...

When the trap expires, they'll stand there for a few moments, then--poof--they've leashed to where they 'should' be on their trail. I had someone tell me about it as it happened with Glimmer, and saw it first hand with Portent.
