[New Pet Family] Class hall mount bonus?

Hey I have been reading the forums for a long time, been playing wow since just before bc, figured I'd finally say Hi. But on to the reason I made this thread, I've been watching all the blizzcon info I can, since it happened and came across this interesting interview done by blizzpro. And in the interview they were talking with Brian Holinka and Micheal Bybee, at 11 minutes in they start talking about class mounts and at 12:05 ish, Micheal drops the bomb that once we get our mounts, the bonus is we can tame flying creatures like gryphons as pets. Feel free to discuss, oh and if this has been brought up already, I'm sorry and feel free to get rid of this thread

This is news to me... and very exciting.

I hope that means we'll see those cool owl-gryphons as wild beasts eventually, in natural colors.

I'm excited, I'm assuming this will include hippogryphs too (alas, if only there were a wild version of the corrupted model). I wonder what else might be included!

- So, we know it'll include gryphons. Some colours are currently not available on wild beasts but hopefully they'll fix that.
- They don't mention hippogryphs, but it'd be highly surprising if they weren't included. Again there are some colours that aren't available on attackable wild beasts, but we did notice back in 7.1 there were new versions of a few of those that were inserted into the database. At the time it seemed strange to add new NPCs using old models unless it's for that reason.
- Cross fingers that owlcats are included too! Surely they'd have to be
- We'll have to wait and see what family name they choose, but my favourite is still Feathermanes. I think it was Quiv's idea

I was just thinking about how there aren't very many wild versions of most of the skins, but hopefully they do add more options. I definitely feel like Gryphons, Hippogryphs, and Wyverns are safe bets? Owlcats would be great too!

I certainly HOPE owlcats will be included, gosh. There's an early tailoring quest in which the questgiver says he used to keep one as a pet/mount. >_>

I sure hope "winged beasts" include wyverns as well, though we'd need the new model put somewhere... It'd certainly make sense as they're the closest creature to our class mount.

I wonder what the family would be called. Mythical beasts maybe?

Here are all the colours of gryphons, hippogryphs, owl cats and wyverns and their current availability status, i.e. whether they exist in the game and can be attacked and therefore potentially tamed. We still have no idea which will be tameable, other than gryphons, which are a definite :

Gryphon_Skin : Wild Gryphon etc.
Unavailable:
Gryphon_SkinBlack : same as black mount but no harness, does not seem to be used in game
Gryphon_SkinWhite : same as white mount but no harness, does not seem to be used in game
SpectralGryphon : The unused wild model version of the spectral gryphon mount
EliteGryphon : The wild model version of the mount, seems to be unused so far

Available (5 colours, over two models) :
Hippogryph2Aszuna [sic] : used in the Broken Isles
Hippogryph2Valshara : used in the Broken Isles
HippogryphBrownSkin : Spotted Hippogryph etc.
HippogryphSkin : Thunderhead Hippogryph
HippogryphWhiteSkin : Antilos (Rare) and Antilus the Soarer (Rare) - one of these two rares could be switched to one of the unavailable skins

Note that a couple of these may have appeared in the 7.1 database and so may appear on tameable beasts by the time the new family is released.
EliteHippogryph : this is the skin used for the hippogryph mount from the Blizzard Shop. This skin has not yet been added to the Hippogryph2 model folder, but it's identical in format to the skins used for that model and would give the new hippogryph a third colour if it was copied across.
Hippogryph_Arcane : used on a new mount, but a wild version of the model exists, it's just not been found in the wild yet
HippogryphBlueSkin : Frayfeather Stagwing exists but is friendly to Alliance. Frayfeather Patriarchs have been removed, Empyrean is unavailable as the quest was removed, but he could be made a rare somewhere.
HippogryphPurpleSkin : Frayfeather Hippogryph exists but is friendly to Alliance. Frayfeather Skystormers seem to have been removed
HippogryphFelSkin : This skin was used for a TCG mount but is unsaddled and makes a perfect wild beast. Fitting for Legion!
BurntGryphSkinRed (on non-saddled model) : would make a great rare in Firelands areas or southern Hyjal
PyrogryphSkin (on non-armoured model) : would make a great rare in Firelands areas or southern Hyjal

Does the corrupted hippogryph skin not have a version without a saddle, I'm guessing? That's a shame. EDIT: Oh wait, even the mount doesn't have a saddle. Did you just miss that one Wain?

The corrupted would be such a cool rare for Legion, fitting the theme and everything... One can only hope as I'd love to tame one too.

Edit: One thing though... I wonder if they'll stand by our side or hover. Most of the (old) wild versions seem to hover, which is a shame, as I quite like the standing animation for the hippo & gryphon mounts. It's nice not having their wings flapping everywhere & clipping into your character model like the Jikun model.

Ok I fixed my post. The Fel hippogryph is in it. The pic was already in our database I'd just missed it in the listing.
