I don't know since when this change has been implemented, but last week, when I started a new Panda to get its boost, I found out tame pet is a level 13 skills. Just thought anyone else might had missed out on that too.

It looks like it was a 7.1 change that we missed.

Check out the changelog here:
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1515/tame-beast#changelog

I'll post a bug about it. If it was deliberate I don't know why. :/

Yeah, I've noticed this myself. Also you learn flanking strike at 10 as Surv and can't use it till 13, which is probably related.

Yes, I'm farming herbs and mines currently, and hostile npcs. 1 more level to go. I don't want to do the kill quest because I think the beast will phase out after.

I noticed when I was playing a new nelf I made to level with out heirlooms. I wanted to tame Duskstalker, but realized the spell was level 13. It was a bummer!! I'm eager to see what all that's about, if it's a bug or not.

Oh, I hadn't said anything about it here since I started making new hunters in Legion because I thought it had already been pointed out and was an intentional change. Not gonna lie, I hate it. It was hard doing a BM hunter and ditching my pet first go at level 10 only to find out I couldn't tame a new one for three levels and couldn't use KC. >_< I do hope they revert it back to the old way.

I....don't understand the decision behind this, if it is intended?? It's only 3 levels, why push it back at all??

Maybe it's the quilen? Maybe they don't want its abilities available at such a low level (although if that were the case you'd think they'd move it back to 20 or something, I dunno...)

They moved a lot of very-lowbie skills around a bunch, though, at the same time.

Nope, because...

That's what they did in 7.1 for ALL classes, not just hunters. Something to do about a "better leveling experience" as they said. Though I agree some of those moved skills aren't welcome. My biggest beef was Aspect of the Turtle moved from level 50 to level 70, making low level hunters require to wait 20 more levels to tame some pets.

Ah so it was deliberate. That's unfortunate. I'd be surprised if the person responsible was even aware of how that affects the taming experience of new hunters. Especially the chance to tame things in starting zones. Just like how shifting AotT impacts on taming at a higher level.

I'd start a thread requesting it be shifted back, and the reasons why, but it's the holidays and it would probably go unseen. Not that hunter problems we post about in the rest of the year get many responses or fixes :/

Dire beast is a level 45 skil in 7.1.5 ptr now, you know, our main source of focus regen. Guess they want Hunter to autoshoot until then. Ty Blizz

Edit

I read wrong, it's disengage that get bumped to 45, but dire beast mechanic changerd to "recharge" instead of cool down.

They're a few months early for April Fool's? That's the only explanation I can think of.

The thing about this that frustrates me the most isn't that the changes are poorly thought out, though I'm convinced they are. It's that there are SO many pre-existing problems with classes, that stem from this clearly rushed class restructure and that have been ignored since Alpha. And yet apparently their response in 7.1 was to ignore those and start fiddling with other things some more. It's like your house is on fire so you decide to move the furniture around.

Dire beast is NOT lv45, at least at the current time. I just learned it at Lv12.

Sorry, I meant in the ptr. 7.1.5 notes read out it has been increased to level 45. And it seems I read it wrong. It's disengage that will get bumped to level 45, not dire beast.

But it seems due beast mechanic has been changed; from cool down to recharge timer. So what does that mean?

Probably in preparation for the new BM legendary that gives Dire Beast a second charge.
