An idea for Marksmanship and Lone Wolf
So, MM is my favorite spec for this expansion. But, I hate not being able to use a pet without feeling nerfed. I had an idea that I think would solve that issue. What about a glyph that would allow us to summon pets all the time, but the pet would remain permanently passive and just follow you? Your pal can still follow and adventure with you just not actually contribute to combat until you spec out of Marksmanship. This way they could also take Lone Wolf out of the talent tree and add another talent. I think this would be an awesome solution. Everyone would win. Anyways. Just an idea.

I'm currently leveling as MM, so I run with a pet since I'm just doing BC dungeons. Not sure what I will do at max level since MM feels the closest to "original" hunters, but I know they're better without a pet. I think a glyph would be a pretty decent solution since I've seen several people say the same thing.

I think it's only a "gimp" when you're raiding as MM and tbh the ease of switching specs to have a pet and not have one say while questing and then popping into lfr or dungeon finder would probably make it a moot point. But I guess it would be a fun gimmick to have a glyph.

I've done pretty well for myself as MM with a pet. XD I don't have lone wolf. Guess I'm just odd

Yeah, I admit I also just don't use Lone Wolf! I'm sure it would be ideal, if I were going to do serious raiding- but MM already does such huge damage that I don't even worry about it.
That said, a passive-pet glyph could be neat! It'd be nice to feel like you still at least have a pet.

What would you glyph to get yourself a pet again? I mean, what ability in your spellbook, since that's the way glyphs work now?
I suppose it would have to be Call Pet 1, which would make it exclusive with Lesser Proportion but I guess that'd be an okay compromise for most people. You do keep CP in your spellbook when Lone Wolf is chosen, you just can't use it at all (which I still don't agree with, but I don't think there's a single hunter mechanic that I don't prefer the WoD version of compared to the Legion version. Dire Beast glyph maybe excluded, but that's not a mechanic, so :P)

Another option. If you wish. You could always use a Magical Pet Biscuit on a companion pet that looks like a a tamed beast an run around with that. It makes mini pets very large. Just a thought if you didn't want to come out of lone wolf.
