Magnakilro's Guide to the RSE Pokedex (3rd gen games)
Hey everyone, its your old pal Magnakilro (aka DCB in honor of my Death Knight, Deadcowbees). I thought I'd do a guide for something different today....I'm sure many of you like pokemon....those cute (mostly) lil creatures that you stuff into your balls to fight and play with. Well I'm gonna type up a guide that will tell you where/how to get all 200 pokemon (all but Jirachi and Deoxys) in the 3rd Generation games: Ruby (R), Sapphire (S) and Emerald (E). I'm sure most of you don't need this but what the heck, I'll type it anyways ^_^.
Real Life Requirements:
Must own Ruby and Sapphire (Emerald is optional, but if you like the Johto starters, I reccommend it)
Must be patient
Must have some luck (optional)
Must be willing to kidnap wild creatures in the hopes of getting full info on them in ur little machine
In-game requirements:
1:Balls (of the Poke variety)
2:Blue Pokeblocks (I'll explain why when I get to it)
3:All 3 fishing rods:Old Rod: gotten from Fisherman near Dewford Gym
Good Rod: Fisherman on Route 118....he's fishing in the lake you surf across
Super Rod: Mossdeep City....house to the left of Rocket Institue
4:These pokemon skills are reccommended, but they are optional: Mean Look/Spider Web/Block (or Trapinch's Arena Trap ability), False Swipe (only available from lvl 55 Zangoose unless u have FR+LG), a sleep inducing move (freeze also works but they are rare and are generally powerful attacks)
5: Sea Incense
6: Breeding Pairs of Marills, Pikachus, Jigglypuffs. (If you play Emerald, you do not have to catch a pair...just catch a ditto in fossil cave thinger)

192: Metagross (Steel/Psychic): Evolve Metang at lvl 45
193, 194, and 195: Regirock, Regice, and Registeel (Rock, Ice, and Steel): These guys require Dive, Dig, Rock Smash (E only), Strength (RS), Flash (E), Fly (RS), Relcanth and Wailord to catch. Go to the Routes with the fast currents. Travel thru em till u reach a dive spot. Dive under and look for a braille message. Surface from there to enter a secret cave. Head to the back and use Dig on the Braille message. Enter the new room. Make your team Relicanth 1st, Wailord last (RS) or Wailord 1st, Relicanth last (E) and read the Braille in the back....3 doors will open around Hoenn.
Regirock: in Desert: Braille Puzzle: left left down down Rock Smash (E), Right right down down Strength (RS)
Regice: Route 105: Braille Puzzle: Just Stand there (RS) Run a lap around the room clockwise without leaving the wall (E)
Registeel: Route 120: Braille Puzzle: Use Fly in Middle of the room (RS) Use Flash in Middle of room (E)
All 3 are One of a kind and lvl 40
196, 197: Latias and Latios (Dragon/Psychic): Latios (R and E only) Latias (S and E only): appear randomly around Hoenn after Elite four are defeated (in Emerald you choose the one you want) They will appear on ANY route. They automatically try to run when confronted. They switch routes when you do, or when you enter a building/cave or city. Both are one-of-a-kind lvl 40. Must be able to trade to get both.
Will add last three tomorrow.
Edit: AND WE'RE BACK!
198, 199: Kyogre and Groudon (Water, Ground): R: Groudon appears in Cave of Origins. Must be fought to continue game. He's lvl 45. Kyogre must be traded over; S: Kyogre appears at the end of Cave of Origins. Must be fought to continue the game. He's lvl 45. Groudon must be traded over; E: After defeating the Elite 4, head over to the Weather Institute and speak to the guy that gave you Castform. He will tell you that there is intense sunshine or rainfall on a certain route. Head to the indicated route quickly. A new cave (Groudon) or Dive spot (Kyogre) will appear. If you are too slow they change routes. These caves are straightforward and lead straight to the pokemon. Both are lvl 70 and know OHKO moves. I reccommend using Rainy Day or some other weather move on Groudon to stop his instant cast Solar Beams. Both Pokemon are one-of-a-kind.
200: Rayquaza (Dragon/Flying): After defeating Pokemon League, head to Sky Pillar (northeast of Pacifidlog town) with your Mach Bike. Climb to the top of the sky pillar. (On one floor there seems to be a dead end....but if you fall thru the correct cracks, you can proceed). On the roof you will find Rayquaza. He is lvl 70. One-of-a-kind.
And thats all of them! Hope this helps you! GL!

(On one floor there seems to be a dead end....but if you fall thru the correct cracks, you can proceed). On the roof you will find Rayquaza. He is lvl 70. One-of-a-kind.
And thats all of them! Hope this helps you! GL!

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to the RSE Pokedex (3rd gen games)
Tips for Catching and Battling:
1: When hunting the Lati Twins....bring a pokemon that knows Mean Look (Crobat is perfect due to his speed)....Emerald players can use Smeargle for the job too.
2: Mean Look can be transferred with Baton Pass.
3: Unlike the Legendary Beasts (Entei Raikou Suicune), the Lati Twins can't scare your Pokemon away.
4: Try to get as many high quality Blue Pokeblocks as possible.....it'll insure that your Feebas evolves.
5: When hunting for Feebas, I reccommend fishing in each spot till 5 pokemon are reeled in. Feebas is common in the spots he appears in.
6: Old rod can catch Magikarp, Tentacool, and Feebas
7: Good Rod can catch Barboach Magikarp Tentacool (Abandoned Ship) Feebas Goldeen Carvanha Wailmer Luvdisc and Horsea (and Remoraid in emerald)
8: Super Rod can catch Sharpedo, Luvdisc, Tentacool (Abandoned Ship) Tentacruel, Magikarp (pretty rare with this rod), Gyarados, Seaking, Staryu, Feebas and Corsola (maybe Horsea too) (Emerald players can also catch Octillery)
9: (Common) means that pokemon is easy to find (Uncommon) means they are frequently found, but not as much as common ones (Few) means infreqently seen (Rare) means you will probably be searching for it for quite some time.
10: The Master Ball is in Aqua Headquarters (Magma HQ in Ruby) just search every teleporter and you should find it.
11: I reccommend using the Master Ball on Rayquaza tho the Lati Twins are good candidates too since they like to run away a lot and Emerald's Groudon and Kyogre are good targets too since they are lvl 70 (R and S's Groudon and Kyogre are lvl 45).
12: Timer Balls work great on legendary Pokemon
13: When constructing a team, try to make sure that your Pokemon can cover each other's type weakness
Ineffective team: Glalie, Mightyena, Regirock, Mawile, Zangoose, Aggron These Pokemon are strong but this team will be wiped out by a fighting type.
Effective Team: Blaziken, Sceptile, Aggron, Swampert, Alakazam, Seviper. These pokemon cover a wide array of types and can easily switch to answer any situation.
14: Try to give your 'mons a move set that covers more then just your pokemon's own types. like a Blaziken with Aerial Ace, Blaze Kick, Sky Uppercut, and Dig works quite well.
15: The Game Corner has some pretty powerful TMs as prizes.
16: Building Friendship on a Pokemon takes a while. Let it fight, lvl up, use stat boosting items on it (the permanent ones that cost $9800) to help.
17: You can get the elemental evolution stones near Mossdeep. A man near there will trade the stones for shards of the same color. Shards are hidden in the water routes and some aquatic pokemon are holding them.
18: The Dragon Scale evolution item needed for Kingdra can only be gotten by using Thief on Bagons or Horseas.
19: The Root and Claw Fossils in the desert are in different locations in RS then in E. in RS: northeastern corner. E: top of Mirage Tower (must have Rock Smash). Once your decision is made, the other fossil gets buried. Emerald players can find the other fossil by heading through the cave in the Fossil Maniac's house after defeating the Elite 4.
20: It is just a game...let loose, have fun, and play your way.
21: Pokemon may be more common or less common in some areas then what I put up there.

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to the RSE Pokedex (3rd gen games)
Fun Facts:
Did you know that there are currently NO pure flying types even in fourth gen? (Arceus, Kecleon, and the Porygon evolution line do not count as all are really normal types that can change thier type due to skills/innate abilities)
Pokemon Emerald is the 1st game to allow rematches with Gym Leaders
If you fill the Hoenn Pokedex in Emerald, Prof. Birch will let you have a Johto starter
Feebas is the rarest non-one-of-a-kind Pokemon in game
Sableye's typing makes it impossible to do Super effective damage
Emerald Gym Leaders and Elite 4 members have different teams then RS
Roxanne: adds a second Geodude
Brawly: adds a Meditite
Wattson: has Electrike and Manectric, loses Voltorb and Magnemite.
Flannery: Has a Numel at the cost of a Slugma
Norman: lost a slaking (and a Slakoth if he used one in RS) and got Linoone and Spinda
Winona: Now uses Swablu, Altaria, Tropius, Pelipper (and maybe Swellow)
Tate and Liza: Adds Xatu and Claydol
8th Gym Leader is a guy named Juan: Luvdisc, Kingdra, Sealeo, Whiscash, and I think Gyarados
Elite 4:
Sidney: replaces Sharpedo with Crawdaunt
Phoebe: Unchanged
Glacia: Unchanged
Drake: Trades a Flygon in for Kingdra
Champion is no longer Steven....its now the 8th Gym Leader from RS: Wallace: Wailord, Milotic, Whiscash, Gyarados, Tentacruel, and Ludicolo.
Steven is in Meteor Falls after you defeat the Elite Four. His team is the same as RS.
Kingdra's typing only has one weakness: Dragon
RSE has more dragons then the previous two generations combined (Previous generations: 4 dragons; RSE: 9 (10 if you count Kingdra)
Wailord is currently the largest Pokemon in the world.
Emerald players have access to these pokemon after national dex is unlocked: Aipom, Smeargle, Sudowoodo (only one), Spinarak, Wooper, Quagsire, Houndour, Remoraid, Octillery, Teddiursa, Miltank, Stantler, Hoothoot, Sunkern, Ledyba, Shuckle, Pineco, Gligar, Mareep, Snubbull, Meowth, Ditto, Totodile, Chikorita , Cyndaquil (the last 3 are one of a kind. You get to choose one when you fill up the Hoenn pokedex). To get Meowth, head to Battle Frontier with a skitty. One of the houses has a girl that'll give you a Meowth for a skitty. The bulk of these pokemon are in the Safari Zone extension. 3 of them (Smeargle, Sudowoodo, Meowth) are in Battle Frontier. I have only listed Pokemon that can be caught in the wild and Meowth. Many of these pokemon can evolve.
FR/LG Can catch (after getting national dex by beating the elite 4 and having 60+ pokemon registered in Kanto dex): Steelix, Bellossom, Porygon2, Kingdra, Crobat, Scizor, Slowking, Politoed, Espeon, Umbreon, Blissey, Pichu, Igglybuff, Magby, Cleffa, Smoochum, Elekid, Tyrogue, Hitmontop, Marill, Remoraid, Mantine, Wooper, Sentret, Ledyba, Spinarak, Sneasel, Swinub, Misdreavus, Delibird, Yanma, Dunsparce, Unown, Qwilfish, Slugma, Magcargo, Togepi, Skarmory, Phanpy, Heracross, Wobbuffet, Hoppip, Natu, Larvitar, Entei (if Bulbasaur was your starter), Raikou (if you chose Squirtle), and Suicune (if you chose Charmander). Many of these pokemon are only obtained by evolving Kanto Pokemon or breeding them. There are more pokemon then listed due to some of them being capable of evolution (like Togepi), or can breed (Marill). Many pokemon here are version specific. These Pokemon are found on the Sevii Islands. I have only listed pokemon that can be caught in the wild, Togepi, and unlocked evolutions and pre-evolutions for Kanto Pokemon.
Did you know that Shuckle has the highest Def and Sp Def stats of ANY pokemon....even Deoxys?
Blissey has the highest HP stat of any pokemon.
Speed Deoxys is the fastest Pokemon.
Attack Deoxys has the highest attack and Sp. attack.

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to the RSE Pokedex (3rd gen games)
Unlike Magikarp (whom Feebas shares many things with: type, being a fish, can turn into a serpentine creature, must be fished up, learns same lvl up moves at same lvls) Feebas is actually capable of learning TMs and HMs, Egg Moves, and Move Tutor moves.

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to the RSE Pokedex (3rd gen games)
The 4th gen attack Roost not only heals the user, but for the remainder of that turn, the user is no longer a flying type. (eg: if Zapdos uses Roost, like half his HP is restored, and he becomes a pure Electric type till the turn ends....making him vulnerable to Ground attacks)
Thunder has a chance of breaking through Protect and Detect if it is raining (along with the 100% accuracy and ability to hit flying targets)
Deoxys' first 3 forms (Defense, Normal, and Attack) spell out DNA when all but the first letter of each word is removed
All 4 generations have had at least one group of 3 legendary Pokemon that have a collective name: The Legendary Birds of Kanto (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres), The Legendary Beasts of Johto (Entei, Raikou, Suicune), The Legendary Golems of Hoenn (Regirock, Regice, Registeel), The Legendary Weather Trio of Hoenn (Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza), The Legendary Pixies of Sinnoh (Uxie, Azelf, Mesprit), and The Legendary Dragons of Sinnoh (Palkia, Dialga, Giratina)
The Legendary Birds' names are a combo of something pertaining to thier element and a spanish number from 1-3
Articuno: Arctic+Uno(1)
Zapdos: Zap+Dos(2)
Moltres: Molten+Tres(3)
If you battle competitively, ANY pokemon can be used successfully.....even Caterpie, Weedle, Magikarp, etc. Just find some way to make it work, and soon you will be bringing massive amounts of embarrassment to your opponents (just watch yourself....there IS a reason why people don't use these things....)

Re: Magnakilro's Guide to the RSE Pokedex (3rd gen games)
Bulbasaur is the only starter that is dual typed thru its entire life
Of all hybrid types available, normal has the least amount of combos (only 3)
Normal/Flying(see below)
Normal/Water (Bibarel is the only one)
Normal/Psychic (Girafarig)
Flying type has the most combinations (15....meaning every type has a flying hybrid except Fighting)
Normal/Flying (Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Spearow, Fearow, Farfetch'd, Doduo, Dodrio, Togetic, Togekiss, Hoothoot, Noctowl, Taillow, Swellow, Swablu, Chotot, Starly, Staravia, Staraptor)
Flying/Water (Gyarados, Mantyke, Mantine, Wingull, Pelipper)
Flying/Grass (Shaymin Sky Form, Tropius, Hoppip, Skiploom, Jumpluff)
Flying/Fire (Charizard, Moltres, Ho-oh)
Flying/Ice (Delibird, Articuno)
Flying/Electric (Zapdos)
Flying/Dragon (Dragonite, Altaria, Salamence, Rayquaza)
Flying/Ghost (Drifloon, Drifblim)
Flying/Ground (Gligar, Gliscor)
Flying/Steel (Skarmory)
Flying/Psychic (Natu, Xatu, Lugia)
Flying/Dark (Murkrow, Honchkrow)
Flying/Bug (Butterfree, Scyther, Ledyba, Ledian, Yanma, Yanmega, Beautifly, Masquerain, Ninjask, Mothim, Combee, Vespiqueen)
Flying/Rock (Aerodactyl)
Flying/Poison (Zubat, Golbat, Crobat)
geez....I think I went way past the double post limit thinger......
Fun Fact: Magna did way more then a double post on this thread
