Pokemon Fun Facts!

Unread post by Magnakilro »

I was checking out Bulbapedia and they had some interesting facts about pokemon! I thought I'd share some with you all!

Bulbasaur is currently the only 1st form starter with a dual type. (Grass/Poison)

There are only 4 pure Ice types in the game atm: Snorunt, Glalie, Regice, and Glaceon. Of these, only Glaceon is not 3rd gen.

Beedrill is the first pokemon in the National pokedex order to have a signature move (Twineedle)

Clefairy was originally going to be the mascot of the Pokemon franchise, however with a push of fame thanks to the anime, Pikachu became the mascot.

Torchic is the first starter to be a bird.

Cyndaquil is the first non-reptilian starter.

Elekid toys are not made often due to fear that kids will stick its ears into outlets.

Of all 3 bug/steel types...Scizor is the only one not labeled as a Bagworm.

Heracross was originally thought to evolve into or from Pinsir.

Kadabra trading cards have not been printed since the Skyridge expansion due to being sued for Kadabra's resemblence to a guy named Uri Geller, who was known for bending spoons with his "mind".

Abra was the first pokemon in alphabetical order for the longest time...he has been dethroned in the 4th gen by Abomasnow.

Rotom is the only non-legendary pokemon to have a legendary theme play during battle with it (Due to the theme, many people erroneously claim Rotom as legendary)

Back in 1st gen games, Poison attacks were supereffective against bugs. Due to this, Paras and Paresect were the only pokemon with three 4x weaknesses (Fire, Flying, Poison)

Paras and his evolved form are the only pokemon with a 5x weakness (Fire. Only in effect if it has Dry Skin)

There is currently only 1 way to get a supereffective hit on a Ghost/Dark type: Use Foresight/Odor Sleuth and then use a fighting type attack.

The Bulbasaur evolution line is the only Grass/Poison type line to not need an evolution stone to reach final form

Roserade is the only final form Grass/Poison type to not have a name starting with "V"

Magnemite and his evolution line are the most resilient pokemon around with 12 resistances and one immunity. If they use Magnet Rise, they gain 1 more immunity (Magnet Rise causes the user to simulate the Levitate ability for a few turns). Fighting, Fire, Water, and Ground (when not using Magnet Rise) are the only unresisted types.

Nidoqueen is the only Nido to not have its shiny form match the color of its counterpart.

Exeggcute, Exeggutor, Celebi, Snover and Abomasnow have the most weaknesses of all pokemon: 7

In the anime, Skarmory has kidnapped more people/pokemon then any other pokemon (possibly excluding Meowth). Skarmory has kidnapped Jessie's Wobbuffet, May, an Azumarill, Meowth and in a Mystery Dungeon special, Diglett, Pichu and Pikachu.

Blastoise, Dialga, Palkia and Ho-oh all share the same first letter as the game they are mascots for (Though in Ho-oh's case, this is only for Heart Gold, not the original)

Lugia has appeared on the cover of more games then any other legendary: 3. Silver, Soul Silver and XD: Gale of Darkness

Chatot's cry never changes in tone or pitch whether its weakened or not

Dusknoir and Darkrai have both been seen in the anime as misunderstood pokemon that turned out to be good guys.

Dusknoir, Spinarak, and Mantyke all have a face on thier bodies.

Crobat's color scheme is Golbat's in reverse (Golbat: Blue body, purple wing webbing, Crobat: Purple body, blue wing webbing) This remains true in its shiny form (Golbat: Green body, pink wing webbing, Crobat: Pink body, green wing webbing.)

Aron's evolution line can learn the signature moves of both the Cranidos and Shieldon evolution lines.

Wailord, the largest pokemon in the world, can breed with some of the smallest, most famously Skitty. This has been coined with the term HSOWA (Hot Skitty On Wailord Action).

Diglett is the smallest pokemon that can breed with Wailord

Diglett mentions having feet in one of the Mystery Dungeon games, causing other pokemon geat surprise.

Wobbuffet and Wynaut are considered Uber pokemon. This is due to thier stats ability and movesets. They can learn Encore, which would force the opponent to use thier last attack for up to 5 turns, allowing Wobbuffet to easily choose the appropriate counter-move to deal heavy damage while Shadow Tag prevents the sorry victim from leaving unless they have Mold Breaker (cancels out other abilities) or some other means of ability cancellation.

Gengar is the only evolved by a trade pokemon to be catchable in the wild without cheat devices (they appear in the Sinnoh games in Old Chateau if FR or LG is in the GBA slot). On another note, Steelix is the only trade with held item evolved pokemon to be catchable in the wild legally (appears in all 4th gen games w/out any outside requirements.)

Giratina is the only pokemon to be supereffective against BOTH of his own types (Ghosts and Dragons are weak to themselves)

Shedinja's Wonder Guard ability is popularly hacked onto Sableye and, more often due to superior stats, Spiritomb. This has been called Wonderhax, Wondereye and Wondertomb. Curiously, Fire Fang still hits these pokemon. Mold Breaker will cancel out this ability. The Scrappy ability will allow supereffective fighting type moves from the user to get through. (Scrappy lets the user hit ghosts with her own Normal/Fighting type moves w/out the aid of Foresight/Odor Sleuth. Kangaskhan and Miltank have this ability) Gastro Acid is the same as Mold Breaker, but takes up a skill slot. Foresight/Odor Sleuth are like Scrappy, but take up a skill slot and are more widespread. Also Wether Effects, status conditions, and entry hazards can still hit through the Wonder Guard. Future Sight and Doom Desire (both moves do nothing until 2 turns later when the opponent gets blasted) also hit right through it and do not take type into account. Note: Doom Desire is only available to Jirachi.

Tauros is the only pokemon that can legitimately learn Horn Attack and get STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus....attacks hit harder if the user is the same type as the attack) from it.

Phione and Manaphy are the ONLY legendary pokemon that can breed (both can only breed into Ditto and both only produce Phione eggs)

Smeargle, Ditto, and Unown have the smallest move pools ever: 1 move. However, Smeargle also has the largest movepool as he can Sketch almost every known move in the game (all except Chatter and Struggle). Ditto's movepool is also quite large due to copying the opponents attacks during transform. Unown has the truly smallest movepool of all pokemon....just one permanent move (Hidden Power).

Slakoth appears in the exact same pose in every one of his sprites.

Mr. Mime, Mime Jr., Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Ho-oh and the two Nidorans are the only pokemon with non-alphabetic characters in thier names (the Nidorans have thier appropriate Gender mark in thier name)

Piloswine and Lickitung were the only two pokemon that could meet the requirements of thier "evolve by learned move" evolution before thier forms were made.

Magnemite and Magneton are the only pokemon to gain a new type in a generation shift.

Hope you found some of these interesting ^_^

And to add to that, despite both being misunderstood heroes in the anime, both of them are the main villains in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Darkness and the Sky. Both of them were also reformed in some way or another in the end, Dusknoir becoming somewhat of a hero in the last special episode in Explorers of the Sky, and Darkrai losing his whole memory at the end of the post-storyline in all three games. And also, both are used by a character in Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.

lolz XD

Here's a few more:

Rattata is famous for the F.E.A.R. (Freaking Evil Annoying Rat) strategy which entails sending out a horrendously weak pokemon that knows Endeavor and a priority move (quick attack) and holds a focus sash. The pokemon is sent out and prepares to use Endeavor. The opponent attacks first and lowers the Fear'er to 1 hp due to the Sash. Endeavor is then used which lowers the opponent's hp to match the user's hp (in this case...1). The Fear'er then uses Quick Attack to end it.

For some impossible reason, Steelix is floating in the 3d games.

Jirachi is the first pokemon to ever be given out directly via Wifi but only in Japan. In other areas, this honor goes to the Pikachu-colored Pichu.

Cubone/Marowak (before 4th gen), Hitmonlee (1st gen only) and Porygon/porygon2/porygonZ have 3 signature moves...more then any other. Cubone lost this stance thanks to Lucario having Bone Rush. Hitmonlee lost his stance when Buneary/Lopunny were revealed to have Jump Kick, Meditite/Medicham were given Hi Jump Kick, and Hitmontop got Rolling Kick. Porygon currently holds the honor of having 3 moves all to himself (Conversion, Conversion2 and Sharpen)

Charmander is the tallest of the Fire starters.

Johto is the only region to have starters that never become dual typed in any form. On the other end of the spectrum, Sinnoh is the only region to have starters become all dual type in final form. Both regions are from an even numbered generation and both feature a mammalian fire type starter.

Shuckle has the highest Defense and Special Defense stats of any pokemon.

Deoxys attack form has the highest Attack and Special Attack of any pokemon...however, if abilities, skills and items come into play...the highest Attack/Special Attack goes to Power Trick'ed Shuckle followed by Thick Club holding Marowak followed by Pure Power Medicham...then Attack Deoxys.

Deoxys Speed form has the highest speed of any pokemon.

Blissey has the highest HP of any pokemon

Cacnea and Cacturne are the only non-rock/ground/steel types to be immune to Sandstorm...this is due to thier Sand Veil ability.

Swinub's evolution line is the only group of pokemon immune to both Hail and Sandstorm

Torchic, Buizel and Floatzel have gender differences that can ONLY be seen on thier back sprites. Of these, Torchic's is the most subtle, having a 1 pixel difference (There is a black speck on the rear of a male Torchic...females do not have it).

Treecko is the only grass starter to not have anything plant-like on its body.

Swampert has the highest base stat total of all starter final forms. Charizard, Typhlosion and Infernape come in 2nd...being one point under Swampert.

Snorlax will sometimes open its eyes in 3d games

Cherrim Sunny Form remains in a constant state of happiness even while fainting in 3d games.

Hope these are interesting enough XD

I don't know if this counts, but I have one about the eeveelutions. XD

Umbreon is the only Eevee that has a advantage over one (Espeon), but no disadvantage over another Eevee.

This is the opposite of Espeon who has a disadvantage over one (Umbreon), but no clear advantage over another.

All other have at least one advantage and one disadvantage over another.

Also, up to the third gen, Umbreon was the only pure dark type. =D

And to add to the Eeveelutions facts, I believe we can count Jolteon in with Umbreon on that, due to being strong against Vaporeon, but weak to none of the other Eeveelutions.

I figured Jolteon had a fair weakness against Leafeon (Grass) since it's resistance to electric type attacks, but not fully strong against.

Good point. But oh well, either way works. Both Umbreon and Jolteon have an advantage against one of the other Eeveelutions, but no weakness to any of them, but Jolteon DOES have a disadvantage against Leafeon due to Grass's resistance to Electric.

Another fun fact. There is no such thing as a pure Flying type. If you look at Flying types, all of the have a secondary type, Normal being the most common.

Here's something that I found interesting.. Shedinja is famous for having only one hit point. The lowest HP of all Pokemon. Yet, the EV it yields is two HP points.. Ironic much?

Arceus, Porygon, and Kecleon are the only pokemon capable of being a pure flying type.

Mr Mime had 4 fingers until the 3rd gen, in which it gained a 5th. The same happened to Dusclops in the 4th gen

Mr Mime's name is misleading as females have been found. Sabrina has one in GSCHGSS.

Poliwhirl's hands have been inconsistent in games. In some games it has fingers, in others it has mittens.

Nosepass was gray-ish and rounded in the 3rd gen. It turned blue and more angular in 4th gen

Regigigas is the highest lvled available legendary, at lvl 100....however this is only true for the Regigigas recieved from a movie event.

Arceus is the highest lvled battleable legendary, at lvl 80

Regigigas in Pokemon Platinum is the lowest lvled legendary, at lvl 1

Magikarp is both the highest and lowest lvled catchable non-legendary, in Pokemon Platinum Magikarps can be fished up somewhere frrom lvl 1-100

In the 3rd gen saga of the anime, they had a game called Trainer's Choice in which a question is asked and you have 3 answers to choose from. In the most infamous Trainer's Choice, the question was "Which pokemon evolves into Seviper?" The answer was Arbok. This is false. Arbok can not evolve any further and Seviper is standalone (does not evolve and can't be evolved into).

Dragon and Ghost types have much in common. Both were only available to one 3 stage evolution line in 1st gen. Both gained only one new member in 2nd gen. Both are supereffective against themselves.

It is possible to catch Shaymin and Darkrai without the use of an item or Action Replay. This is possible in Diamond and Pearl. It involves traveling through a dark void into an alternate Sinnoh that allows you to walk on walls and water. If done properly, you will find these pokemon. This does not work in Platinum as the pokemon are missing until you have the event item. This is called the "Tweaking Glitch" Search Youtube to see it in action.

FR and LG are the first games to have a legitimate and unactivated-by-a-glitch battle with Mew.

The famous "Mew Truck" can be found in FR and LG. To reach it, you must not complete the mission on the SS Anne. This is possible by trading over a pokemon that knows Cut. Cut the tree near the gym and continue the game as normal until you get Surf and Soulbadge. Return to the dock that leads to SS Anne and surf off to the left or right (forget which) to find it. There is a lava cookie located near it.

Pokemon Crystal was the first game to give legendary pokemon thier own theme song. This was only given to the Legendary Beasts. A theme has been given to every legendary since except Latias, Latios, Cresselia and Shaymin.

Unown is said to have amazing power in the anime....however his performance in the games is far from this.

In pokemon crystal, each unown has its own animation. In later games, they all use the same animation.

All of the Regi's are weak to Fighting type.

In the 1st gen, there was nothing that could resist the Psychic type. This was changed in the 2nd gen when the Psychic immune Dark type and the Psychic-resistant Steel type were introduced.

Lapras can learn all OHKO (One Hit Knock Out) moves except Guillotine.

Ditto vs Ditto will never have an outcome. This is due to them only having Transform, turning them into the other Ditto and giving them a 5 PP Transform....this keeps refreshing with each use, meaning Struggle will never come into effect.

Chimchar is the only unevolved non-legendary 4th gen Fire type

Shaymin has the highest catch rate of any legendary.

Of all the non-legendary Fire types...Torkoal is the only one that is standalone

Bibarel is often referred to as the "perfect HM Slave" due to his ability to learn all HM's except Fly and Defog in DPPt

Porygon is the only pokemon that can evolve twice without lvling up once. Thus, lvl 1 Porygon-Z's are possible.

Aerodactyl is the only unevolveable Fossil pokemon

Aerodactyl is also the only fossil pokemon that was available by other means. In GSC you could trade a Chansey to a person in Kanto for one.

Ruby and Sapphire were the first games to have version specific legendaries (Groudon and Latios in Ruby, Kyogre and Latias in Sapphire)

Red's Pikachu is currently the highest lvl'ed non-Battle Frontier trained pokemon of all at lvl 88

Doduo and Dodrio are capable of learning Fly somehow

Ekans and Arboks names backwards spell Snake and Kobra respectively. Many players have made jokes about Muk for this.

Muk and Mew have the shortest names of all Pokemon

Victreebel and Feraligatr both have the same problem. They are both missing letters in thier names due to lack of space (they were meant to be called VictreebelL and FeraligatOr....the capitilized letters being the ones that were omitted)

All of Zangoose's pokedex entries mention Seviper

Croagunk and his evolution are the only pokemon with a 4x weakness to Psychic

In the Anime, Dawn and May both have a few things in common with Ash, especially Dawn.

May: Owned a Bulbasaur, owns a Squirtle and her first time successfully evolving a pokemon to final form resulted in her getting her region's butterfly (Beautifly) mirroring Ash's first successful final form pokemon: Butterfree.

Dawn: Owns a Cyndaquil (though Ash's has evolved recently), She chose the water starter of her region which is the starter type Ash was originally going to choose, Both have thier region's electric rodent (Ash has Pikachu, Dawn has Pachirisu), Both of thier starters hate being in pokeballs, Both of thier starters refuse evolution, Dawn went through the same hassle as ash went through when his Charmander evolved, only her problems started a while after her Swinub evolved. Both Charmander and Swinub were happy, and friendly in first form. Upon evolution they became cocky and disobedient (though Piloswine took longer to do this). Upon final evolution, the pokemon were still disobedient until the trainers won them over somehow.

Pikachu has defeated many ground types with electric attacks in the Anime...an impossible feat in the games. Many people make fun of the strategy against Rhydon ("AIM FOR THE HORN!")

Pokemon Platinum is the only game with Porygon in it where it is not the most expensive thing to buy at the Game Corner (Some guy just hands you the Porygon free of charge)

More facts for you fact-hungry ppls out there:

Apparently, Professor Oak was gonna be the champion of the Pokemon League. Supporting this fact is that if you cheat/hack the 1st gen game correctly, you can battle Professor Oak. All of his pokemon are around the same levels as the Rival's pokemon during the Champion battle. Also supporting this is Agataha who states that Oak was a tough trainer. Also Oak actually walks into the Hall of Fame room with you, and says that only trainers who have become a Champion can enter. Lastly, he has an email on his computer which involves the Pokemon League HQ asking him to join them.

Professor Oak is the only Prof to be in all 4 gens (1st gen and the remakes, 2nd gen and the remakes)

Oak is the only Prof to be shown catching a pokemon (the Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow)

The 4th and 5th gens are the only ones in which EVERY starter gets chosen by somebody.

Littleroot Town is the only starting area to not have a fishing spot

Pokemon Silver's Pokedex entry for Corsola may have unwittingly predicted the future. The entry states that in a south sea nation, people live in communities built on groups of Corsola. Pacifidlog Town in Hoenn is said to be built on Corsola's by NPC's in the town. (Oddly enough, you can not catch a Corsola in this town, though someone will give you one if you give her a Horsea in Ruby and Sapphire)

Johto is the only region to not have wild Pikachu, its own Victory road, its own Pokedex (pre-4th gen), its own Pokemon League, its own evil team, its own storage system developer, its own Cycling Road, a pokemon burial ground, and its own fossil pokemon. This is mostly due to the fact that half the game is in Kanto anyway so there was no point in repeating anything.

Johto is the only region where the first gym did not use Rock types. However Jasmine has stated that she used them.

In the 2nd and 4th gen games....between Johto and Kanto, there are currently no gyms specializing in Dark or Ground types. Viridian's gym used to be ground type but Blue took over and does not specialize in any type. Dark IS specialized in the Elite 4 however. Ground is not specialized in anything for these regions.

Sinnoh is the only region to not have some island in the middle of nowhere with a gym on it. All Gyms are on the main area.

Sinnoh is the only region without a ship to battle trainers in.

A kid in Orebourgh in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will tell you advance in the game to avoid becoming a "total noob". He does not say this in Platinum

In Pastoria, if you examine the Croagunk statue in the pokemart, then stand behind the Croagunk Wall with your head sticking out, a Croagunk will run out, do a battle cry, and then run away

A kid in Canalave staes "Dar...Dark...is watching me..." during his unending nightmare. This is likely referring to Darkrai. This reinforced by the fact that you have to heal this kid with the Lunar Wing before you are allowed to use the Membership Pass event item to battle Darkrai. (The Lunar Wing is dropped by Cresselia when you first meet it)

Twinleaf Town is the only starting town to not have the region's professor living in it.

Jubilife City is the only 3rd city you visit that does not have a gym.

South of the Global Trade Station, there are NPC's named Wi and Fi

Jubilife City is the starting point for the Tweaking glitch that could lead to players catching Shaymin and Darkrai if successful.

Celestic town has a shrine that looks very much like the shrine in Ilex Forest in Johto. Coincedentally, Celestic Town shares the same first 4 letters with Celebi.

Newmoon Island, the home of Darkrai, looks exactly like Fullmoon Island, the home of Cresselia.

Despite being in a nightmare at the time, you can still access Sinnoh Underground from Newmoon Island.

Seabreak path is the longest route of any pokemon game. It contains 8192 square units. To visit this area, you must have the Oak's Letter event item. This path leads to Shaymin.

Out of all of the Pokemon Brock uses in the games, only one of them does not have a 4x weakness to Grass.

Misty is the only female water pokemon gym leader, she's also the youngest

Lt. Surge has the smallest team of any gym leader, with only one pokemon (only true in Pokemon Yellow....he uses a lone Raichu)

Erika's 3rd gen sprite is the only one without a pokeball

Koga's Pokemon Yellow team is higher levelled then his Elite 4 team in 2nd and 4th gen (during the first battle with him)

Sabrina is the first Gym leader to recieve a pokemon from a main character in the anime (Ash's Haunter). Gardenia was the 2nd (James's Cacnea)

Blaine's signature pokemon in the anime was Magmar, however he never uses one in the Kanto based games...only the Johto ones. (Pokemon Yellow doesn't even have it, and that game is based on the anime)

Giovanni is the only Team leader to not have endangered a legendary Pokemon (in the games only)

Giovanni is the 1st ever event only trainer (in HG and SS you can battle him if you take a Celebi to Ilex Forest Shrine.)

Giovanni is the only gym leader that can be battled before the actual gym battle

Falkner is the only first gym leader to not give a damaging attack TM (4th gen only)

Bugsy is the only Gym leader to use pokemon that can't learn TM's

Whitney is the first gym leader to use a 2nd gen pokemon (Miltank)

Morty is the only male Ghost type specialist

Chuck is the only fighting type expert to not use a member of the Machop line

Jasmine is the person with the only in-game trade that does not require the player to bring a specific pokemon.

Pryce is the only male Johto gym leader to use a 2nd gen pokemon

Claire is the only gym leader to not use post-2nd gen Pokemon in her rematch (her team instead is greatly reminiscent of Lance's during the first E4 battle with him, except she only has 1 Dragonite....she kept one as a Dragonair and her signature Kingdra takes the other's place.)

Roxanne is the first ever 1st gym leader to be female

Brawly is the only Fighting type expert to not be barefoot

Wattson is the only electric gym leader to not use a Raichu in the initial encounter (he gets one in rematches in Emerald)

Flannery's appearance in the Pokemon Adventures manga is the only one where she doesn't use a Torkoal

Norman is the only gym leader to be the player's father in any game

Winona is the only Gym Leader to use a shiny pokemon in the anime (Swellow)

Tate and Liza are the only Psychic gym leaders to not use an evolution of Abra. They are also the only gym leaders you have to Double Battle in the initial battle (Emerald only as Ruby/Sapphire do not have gym leader rematches)

Wallace is the only Champion to not use a pseudo-legendary pokemon at any point (Pseudo-legendaries are: Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross and Garchomp). He is also the only Champion with no known relatives.

Juan is the only gym leader that can only be fought in 1 game (he replaces Wallace as the Sootopolis Gym Leader in Emerald)

Roark is the only Sinnoh gym leader to not have any fully evolved pokemon. He is also the only one who didn't change at all in the shift from Diamond/Pearl to Platinum

Gardenia is the first gym leader to use a starter that was one of the starters in the game she's in (Lt. Surge does use Pikachu in all of his 1st gen appearances (as well as thier remakes) except for Yellow (where Pikachu was actually the starter)

Maylene has the highest lvl'ed pokemon of all Sinnoh gym leader rematches (lvl 66 on her Lucario)

All of Crasher Wake's pokemon have a gender difference except Sharpedo.

Fantina actually has 2 Drifblims, one for battles (not used in the initial battle in Platinum) and one for Contests

Byron has some things in common with 2 other gym leaders: Roark and Jasmine.
Roark: Both use a fossil Pokemon (Roark uses Cranidos, Byron uses Bastiodon). Both use an Onix evolution (Roark uses Onix itself, Byron uses Steelix)
Jasmine: Both are the 6th gym leaders of thier region. Both specialize in Steel type and both use a Steelix

Candice is the only Ice type specialist to not have a Water type

Volkner is the only Electric type Gym leader to not use either Voltorb or Electrode. He is also the only Sinnoh Gym Leader to use seals on one of his pokemon (his Electivire in Platinum)

Elite 4 Facts:

Lorelei is the only Elite 4 trainer to have her home shown in-game (Four Island in FR and LG) She is also the only 1st gen elite 4 member (besides the champion) to not have 2 of the same pokemon (Bruno has dual Onixes, Agatha has dual Gengars and Lance has dual Dragonairs)

Bruno is never standing in any of his sprites

Agatha is stated to specialize in Ghost types, however all of her Pokemon (except Misdreavus in rematches) share the Poison type. This is due to the lack of Ghosts in the 1st 2 gens. (E4 rematches in LG and FR had them adding only 2nd gen pokemon to thier teams)

Lance has had an illegal pokemon on 2 occasions (ignoring his underleveled Dragonites in the Johto games): An Aerodactyl with Rock Slide in GSC and a Dragonite with Barrier in RBY

Blue's Pokemon Yellow battle is the only one where your starter can have a type advantage over his strongest pokemon (This is due to the fact that the Eeveelution he uses depends on how you handle the battle with him on your first visit to the route west of Viridian at the beginning of the game. )

Will is the only member of the Indigo Plateau Elite 4 to use only pokemon with his specialty type in the initial battle with him (This is shared with Sinnoh's elite 4 member, Lucian, who is also a Psychic expert)

Koga is the only Gym Leader to have become a non-champion member of the Elite 4 in a generation he was not introduced in.

Bruno's pokemon are at a lower lvl in the 2nd gen games and thier remakes then the ones he used in the 1st gen games and thier remakes. Lance and Blue share this trait with him.

Karen is the only E4 member to change her main pokemon in the rematch with her. She uses Houndoom as her main pokemon in the 1st battle with her, however she uses Absol as her main pokemon in rematches. Oddly enough, Umbreon is higher lvl'ed and has a Sitrus Berry, even thought its not her main.

In the rematch with him, all of Lance's pokemon have a 4x weakness to either Ice, Rock or Electric. He is also the only E4 rematch to STILL not use a full team of Pokemon that are his type specialty (Gyarados, Charizard and Aerodactyl are not Dragons) He has also used more Pseudo-legendaries then any other trainer (3: Dragonite, Salamence and Garchomp)

Sidney is the only member of Hoenn's Elite 4 to not share the same specialty type as a 1st gen Elite 4 member (Though his type IS shared with 2nd gen member, Karen)

Phoebe is the only Ghost type expert to not have a member of the Gastly evolution line (this is due to the fact that Gastly and its evolutions do not exist in Hoenn)

Glacia's battle sprite and artwork show her wearing a purple dress, however, her overworld sprite shows her wearing a red one

Drake is the only non-Champion member of Hoenn's Elite 4 that appeared in the anime.

Steven is the only champion to not use a water type. Ironically, in Emerald, he gets replaced by Wallace who uses nothing but Water types. (On a similar note, Lance is the only Champion to not use any Grass types)

Wallace is the only Champion that did not appear in HG/SS (Blue, the 1st champion is the 16th gym leader, Lance, the 2nd Champion, is the Champion of these games, Steven, the 3rd Champion, appears in Vermillion and Saffron. In Vermillion he unlocks your version exclusive Lati twin. In Saffron, he will give you a Hoenn starter, and later on, trade you a Beldum for a Forretress...the Beldum has a Dawn Stone. If you got the Enigma Stone event item, you can find Steven in another Kanto city, where he reveals it as Soul Dew, gives it to you, and unlocks the unavailable Lati twin for your game, Cynthia, the 5th Champion, appears during the Arceus event after your taken to Sinjoh Ruins.....there she helps you unlock Arceus's power to create life from nothing, which leads to you getting a lvl 1 legendary Sinnoh dragon of your choice.)

Aaron is the only member of Sinnoh's Elite Four that does not have Earthquake taught to any of his Pokemon

Many players speculate that Bertha is related to Agatha, due to thier similar appearances and positions.

If you talk to Volkner in the Villa, he reveals that Flint only chose to specialize in Fire types because of his name.

One of the old men on Route 228, who is only found in Diamond and Pearl, may be Lucian's grandfather as he has a grandson who enjoys reading and who has a library of books on ESP

During the rematch with her, Cynthia's pokemon are the highest levelled of any Champion. She is also the first Champion to appear in all 5 games of a generation. Also, if you know what IV's are, all of her Pokemon have perfect IV's: 31's for everything.
