Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
It could be because the original animations/skeleton didn't look good with the newer models, so they decided to switch it to the coyote skeleton.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
Im guessing as they are a mount it worked better for that, like what happened with the Tallstriders.

Decrepit Darkhound
Looked around a bit more. I haven't found any of the runed darkhounds with an updated model.

Yeah it seems the non-runed demon dogs got changed. I checked a couple of each color myself and sure enough! Very interesting! Makes me wonder if any more are planned.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
I hope the rune hounds get an update. I love those guys. Sad to see the old skeleton go but other than that these updates looks really good. I used to really dislike the red one but the updated red one is by far my favorite.
Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
I love this new model very much, but in my opinion, this skeleton really don't go well with them at all. I hope they don't change the runic at least, so I can keep my jumpy doggo.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
I just got alpha access, and went roaming around in the alliance zones. Went to Drustvar and accidentally found the Ensorcelled Hares, only to find that they are not tameable now. How unfortunate.
EDIT 1: Over in Drustvar, found a tarantula with a different colored skin named "Lurking Tarantula". It's like a faded violet color, and I'm not sure I saw that elsewhere on the site. Forgive me if it was already posted, but I couldn't find anything on this skin.

Ah, well I guess I'm just blind. Didn't think there were faded violet tarantulas with the new model.
EDIT: That thread states it uses the brown variant, but the brown skin is different from the one I posted.

It's just the lighting. There isn't a violet tarantula variant.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
Well that sucks. It doesn't look brown anywhere I go. Then again, the voidwalkers are white right now. Alpha will be alpha, though I really want that purple color to stay.
On the subject of the new Darkhound models, I was just roaming around until I ran across Whisper <Jakob Teller's Companion>. It's a dog using the wolf mount animations, but with its head held higher. I think the Darkhound pets would look amazing with these animations, while the mount Darkhound datamined would be fine with the wolf/coyote animations.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
Wow, those look fantastic!!! I'm a little sad about the skeleton change, but the old one's jaw looked really weird when it hopped. I won't miss that.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
While Crawgs and those Blood Ticks still seem unlikely, I threw up a suggestion on the forums on how they could become tameable; a method similar to how we tamed mechanicals, direbeasts, and the fel wolves. Some kind of item or mechanic that spawns our own blood baby to tame. I'm probably alone in really wanting a Crawg pet, but I would KILL to tame one in any manner. A method like the previous item-related tames makes the most sense, in my opinion. Just thought I'd drop this in here in the event anyone else shared my sentiment.

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
Very cool! Nice to see that the Zandalari based their forms off of something rather than just making it up. I'll catalogue and add them to the list once I get home

Re: Battle for Azeroth creatures
I highly doubt those are staying tameable as they're the Zandalari druid forms, and Blizz has never let a druid form model that's unique to a race be tameable. Tbh that'd be a giant eff you to druids so hoping that changes.
