Gating and BFA

Unread post by Kaellan »

I have a question for those who are farther along in the alpha than I am...Is there any gating in BFA? An example in legion is the gating of legion flying and nightfallen allied behind the nightfallen storyline (which includes a raid..something I've done before.). Any info would be appreciated.

As of right now, no. Any gating (which there probably will be) would be at max lvl, which we currently cannot reach. Flying will probably be gated and won't be completely obtainable till 8.1 or 8.2. The only other thing that could be gated is the Heart of Azeroth and Azerite, but it is too early to really tell and the system will be heavily modified between now and Live.

During interviews they have stated that Zandalari trolls and kul tiran humans as allied races will be timegated.

Yes, but only because they won't be out at launch. Same goes for the new Worgen and Goblin models. We don't know how we'll actually obtain them as playable races. The Dark Irons and Mag'har might be gated, but it is too hard to say right now since we don't know too much about how the War Campaign will work.

The Zandalari and Kul Tiran gating makes sense from a story perspective. We literally just meet these folks when the xpac launches. Allied Races are about getting these races to join our cause. The Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag'har Orcs are races we have history with, so theres a relationship to build on. The Zandalar and Kul Tiran need time to get to know us, trust us, and then agree to join us.

So its not an arbitrary time gate so much as a story one.

Exactly, Quiv. Gating isn't a bad thing when done right.
