Re: 8.1 Beasts
thats the most dissapointing thing ever. considering we have had access to Thok for a long time now, you'd think the one added in before him would be tameable by now. Is it a matter of people wanting to kill him since hes a world boss? I could have sworn all the pandaria bosses respawn very fast nowadays.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
Probably because she's a world boss and people still regularly farm for the mount that she drops. There could also be technical issues that we aren't aware of that would come up if we did tame her.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
Oondasta is male. and as for mount farmers, His spawn timer is now 15 minutes. So theres not really any reason he couldnt be tameable especially since we can already tame a plethora of old raid bosses.

I guess they aren't planning to touch on Pandaria bosses at all right now: went to check on Horridon and he isn't tamable either.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
Raid bosses are different than world bosses. You going into your own instance that only you have access to and taming a boss that doesn't affect anyone else but you is different than taming a world boss that affects others. Besides that, we don't know what technical problems could arise by taming him and that might be why he hasn't been made tamable.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
This taming pass was based on a very specific list of beasts that was compiled near the end of Beta and given to Muffinus. The list did not contain any world or raid bosses - just beasts that were not tamable but should be (mostly just normal mobs). Blizz typically decides on whether or not a certain boss should or should not be tamable.Aggannor wrote:I guess they aren't planning to touch on Pandaria bosses at all right now: went to check on Horridon and he isn't tamable either.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
I wanted to check the Frenzied Pterrordaxes in Emerald Nightmare to see if they were still classed as Elementals and untameable, but for some weird reason I couldn't zone into EN and kept getting an error message telling me the raid was unavailable. Probably some weird quirk of PTR testing, I'd assume.
I also checked the Zandalari Pterrorwings outside of MSV in Kun'lai, but those weren't flagged as tameable. Most likely because they have mobs riding them, but it was still worth a try. Both beasts in question use this model, which currently isn't found anywhere else besides these two cases.
Also couldn't tame these dudes that spawn by the Zandalari Warbringers, either. But again, no harm in giving it a shot.

I checked a few, they still aren't tameable. :\Qraljar wrote:I know it's a way long shot, but has anybody checked kunchong?
On an unrelated note, I don't know if it has been reported yet but the Bee idle animation has been fixed. No more shuckin' and jivin'

Figured as much and I'm definitely not surprised, but was worth a try. Thanks Quiv!Quiv wrote:I checked a few, they still aren't tameable. :\Qraljar wrote:I know it's a way long shot, but has anybody checked kunchong?
This is good news. It means I can run around with a bee without my OCD kicking in.Quiv wrote:On an unrelated note, I don't know if it has been reported yet but the Bee idle animation has been fixed. No more shuckin' and jivin'
By the way, Wain, could you add the three silithids to the tame check list? I don't have any hope that it'll be changed before 8.1 launches, but maybe for 8.1.5 or 8.2.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
Speaking of bug fixes : the two families that were missing their special abilities now finally have them on the PTR - Direhorns (Gore) and Basilisks (Petrifying Gaze).

I've added everything to our patch 8.1 news page.
I'll include other news / fixes as they're reported.

Re: 8.1 Beasts
Also, in 8.1 a bunch of beasts have been switched to the proper family for the model (mostly, but not entirely, a carrion bird vs bird of prey thing). I've checked some but there's plenty more to check if anyone is in the vicinity

Re: 8.1 Beasts
I have great news! The Plague Toad in Temple of Sethraliss (on all difficulties) is tamable! This is the first tamable dire toad
Taming this will be very difficult with a pug group. They are low on health and will die upon contact with other players. I had a Druid hibernate one before I attempted to tame it. Best to come in here with either a full group of friends or guildies, or to see if you could possibly 2-3 man this place with people you know.

Can confirm that the Abyssal Eel in Shrine of the Storm is still not tamable.
