the burning boar...tips?

So me & a buddy are trying to get me a burning boar, with the abandon method out the window of course, we browsed the forums found that the boar dies after 7sec, so we've been trying to gauge the torch throw at 6.5, 6.7, 7 etc. seconds left in the tame.

When we get close the pig glows of tame then flops over dead, or, it just falls over dead I revive & regular mr porker.

Any tips would be helpful as I'd like to help my buddy get theirs too.

It's a lot of RNG it seems, kinda like the fire pet. You may wanna try 6.6 or 6.5 seconds.

what exactly am I looking for in regards to tame cause there's been several times there's no glow & it flops over I spam revive pet & it looks like a regular boar.

Tilo, try it solo. I was able to do it based on Kanegasi’s post (3rd post from the last): http://www.wowhead.com/npc=36696/armore ... r#comments

You just need to time the throw, and I made sure I was in Aspect of the Cheetah for fast run speed. Now, I’m not sure what level are you but if you’re too low level (ie. just starting out) you might not survive the jump down.

I got it almost immediately on my lowbie hunter (who was maybe level 25-ish at the time). I did the hill jump as described in the post Anj linked, above. Got it on the 3rd or 4th try.

But when I tried with my main (85) I failed again and again. I tried with gear off, in Cheetah, making tiny adjustments to my timing, etc. following all the advice possible, but I haven't managed it yet. (I still have the torch though!) Unfortunately I think there is a lot of luck involved. I feel your pain and wish you luck.

Yesss... got my flamey boar.

I made a trial account, & tried the 'far on the hill' method, always got too soon where boar would flop over before tame would finish, or, get the glow of a tame & no burning boar.

So I set my taurentoon a few feet away from the trough on the north side of the mud pit...

So there's maybe a few feet away & a 2-3sec window with tabbing from window to window & throwing the torch, was trial & error between 6.1-6.5sec left on the tame, the last one where I got mine I had iced a boar, started tame which starts at I think 8-9sec, tabbed over, threw torch, there was no 'death' or 'glow' of the boar being tamed, however it did vanish, so I revived & there's my Salczek, did a big ol' "Yesssss" out loud, & there ya' have it

Oh, I also tried with ancient hysteria, always got the 'glow' of the tame as listed above.

Hope a rough time-frame helps those alliance who're looking to tame their own.

Congrats on getting yours. Now i dont have screen shots so bare with me. This is my tip for anyone chasing this. My first successful tame on my first hunter, btw. Go to the southernmost part of the little 'dining' area. There is a hill in which you can climb.

1. Climb the hill (cliff)
2. Look below at the closest (southern most trough)
3. There are 2 pigs per trough. Target the one closet to you /doh
4. Get a running heat start and jump. While in mid air, throw the flaming torch.
5. Land on your feet, get in range and start your tame immediately.
6. (With very little haste and on a ~10 second tame) The pig will catch fire with approx 6 seconds left.
7. With <1 second left on your tame, immediately hammer your pet revive.
8. Do not fully cast your revive pet. You want to go through the notions, but you want to interrupt it on a successful revive 'cast'
9. Log out - You should see a boar next to you
10. Log In - Profit.

I tried this with help but was more successful solo. I've done this on my level 10 twink first and I also have it on my hunter who's now 73 (tamed at 10 also)

I know a few mentioned seeing a 'whistle' upon tame in the pet summon bar; but I didn't bother checking just revived it, nor did I have to log out & in again.

I just tamed this awesome pet today (Dec 12, 2011) on a lvl 28 hunter with zero haste gear. I did however have a boomkin with me, giving me a 5% haste buff, which put the timing exactly perfect. I didn't do anything special taming him. The tame has to complete exactly when the boar dies and then I revived it. No macros, logging out, none of that. It only took me 4 successful tames. The first 3 weren't burning, but the 4th one was when I revived it. =) **Special thanks to Bamhealed for helping me do this and good luck to all!

i have one and im rather cross with myself. i spent so much of my bfs time to get it and when we finally got it it was bells and whistles fireworks in the background.

but......... he just sits in the stables =(
i feel so bad for my piggy.... i bring him out on occasion to show off. and it doesn't feel right.

Hm, is this still possible?
I jump off the hill, throw torch, use tame beast, spam revive pet, little pet border pops up, and it starts reviving, I cancel reviving, log out, there is a boar on screen (non flame), I log in, I try to call pet, its dead, I ress it, its a boar, but regular one.
Am I doing something wrong ?

What you do, i got it fairly quickly this way. Find the boar that is munching on a troth. Go max distance from said boar. Freezeing trap him, Throw your torch and as soon as you throw it hit tame beast immediately.

Trying it every day for few hours, is it possible it has been fixed?

I tried every tactic and timing, now or it dings and it is normal, or it disappears and doesn't appear, abandon way or revive way, still same

Can anyone that did it successfully test it again?

dunno man as per my post Sep 12, 2011, was when I got mine & I had to use a trial account toon with tabbing to each window to start tame, haven't tried since.

I have this boar on about 6 hunters spread out over about 6 servers. I went to grab it yesterday on a lowbie hunter I just started (On Mar. 1, 2012) and no go, after an entire afternoon and most of the evening, and again for several hours today.My lowbie level 10 hunter has absolutely NO haste gear and a full 10-second tame.

Has anyone had any luck getting this boar in patch 4.3.3? If so, please post here! It looks to me like they nerfed it somehow so it isn't possible any more. Let everyone know if there is still a way to get it. Thanks!

I have tamed the oiled wolf and flaming boar several times in the past (for myself or for friends, etc). Tonight I tried to get an oil wolf for the first time in several patches and found that I was unable to do so after an hour or so of attempts (which is far longer than it has taken me to get it in the past).

Unlike when I have attempted to tame a "glitch" pet in previous patches, I was unable to get a death at the end of the tame, normal skinned or otherwise. Instead, they drop to 1 health when the tame finishes and then back up to full health after the ding animation.
