Hmmm. Level 35, and there's no pets of that level around, unless one counts Blind Hunter in Razorfen Kraul... is it soloable for a hunter of level 35? .... hmm. The next available one down is at level 31: either Ironback or Snort. I think I might see if Freeze Trap and Feign Death will allow me to get to where Blind Hunter would spawn and see if I can't solo-tame it. If not... well... I LIKE TURTLES! (tm).

EDIT: Yeah. Totally not soloable. Going to hit up Snort while I'm in the area, I think. Safer!

I'm presently at level 40, and realizing it will be another long stretch of 'no tameable pets'. There are three at level 39, but the only ones at level 40 and 42 are Exotic, and there are no rare pets at all for 41, 43, and 44. I fudged 40 with Qirot, and will probably consider taking Snarler for 41. 42-44, though, I'm going to have to 'backtrack' to some considerably lower-level pets in order to keep the taming up. Oh well. There's a good enough collection of pets that I don't feel *too* bad about doing so!

Even with the PTR out, I spend some time kicking this character around. A lot of the goings-on haven't been all *that* interesting, since I've been mostly having easy luck with rares. Other than having a few issues at around level 53 finding any of the Winterspring cats.

Just dinged 58. That's a landmark in two ways.

One: obviously this means I just hit Outland level. Since I cleared Blasted Land of all quests, I'm going to head right there and start my leveling at 58.

Two: This is going to be a *VERY* long stretch of no level-appropriate (or even remotely level-appropriate) rares. I won't get another chance at a level-appropriate rare until level 65, when Goretooth becomes tameable, if I can manage to find him. On the plus side, it means I have a lot of choices since there's nothing below me in level in 'old world'. On the minus side, it means I have to start cherry-picking a bit rather than letting my level help dictate it!

Updating the list with my past choices, and settling in to ponder the next few.

A couple notable mentions:
Rekk'tikac is a total troll. When I was too low of level to tame, I found him tromping around every time I wanderered through. When I was at level and went to tame him, he was nowhere to be found. When I gave up, tamed something else, and came back to the zone to level more, guess who was wandering around? Augh! I ended up taming him later just because of that!

Grunter is the only rare boar. This makes me sad, because I forgot how much I love running around with a piggie. Noah needs to put more in, STAT!

Just a bump to let people know I'm not quitting this whole thing. Just that, at the moment, I'm in a bit of a 'leveling race'. Our guild put a bounty out for getting 'Classy': a free epic from the guild bank for each one you get.

So far, I've managed to level the Night Elf Death Knight first, and am presently working on the Worgen Rogue. Once that's done, I'll probably get back into finishing up this challenge.

Hey. Remember this posting? I bet you thought I had given up on it!

Well... you'd be half right. I sort of forgot I was doing it. Fortunately, I keep obsessive notes. I have, all written down, all the rares that I had in the past as well as the ones I *intend* to get. So I've been getting back into it a little. So far so good, except for one thing.

When I dinged 67, I did my periodic check for Goretooth, for a 'rare tame pet'. I pinged him! ... and watched with horror and sorrow as another hunter finished taming him. AUGH! So I'll have to wait longer on him. But I'm not out of rares yet!

The list is, again, updated for levels 58-66. I'm in the process of hunting level 67 (grumble grumble grumble).
