I've been wanting to put together a matching transmog set to go with Skorn for a while now. Black devilsaurs can be surprisingly difficult to colour match, however. Though the first impression you get is black & blue, their stripes are really more of a teal colour, almost closer to green in hue than a true blue. This peculiar shade is hard to find a good match for in gear, and I can be a little picky about specific hues. I didn't just want to go with overall blue and pretend it matched.

Choices were limited in the mail category, but I think I managed to come up with an overall set I like. I stuck with the Ebonhold pieces as a base since I wanted the set to be predominantly black. Then I picked out a chest piece and belt that had a bit of blue and teal in them. Belt will be a pain to obtain as it drops from Heigan in Naxx, and hilariously despairingly the chest piece is from Kara (just when I thought I was finished with that place after getting my rifle!) I found a wonderful cloak that encompassed all of the colours I wanted. Finally, the Crypt Fiend Slayer was the perfect bow to add some blue to the set and bring out the colour of Skorn's eyes. I ignored the tan on his belly since I imagine it to be grey anyways, and I didn't want to draw attention to that colour in my set.

Anyways, I really only have to farm for the chest and belt, which will probably take a while, but at least I have a goal now.

Yeah, you're right - it's definitely more teal than blue and I think those pieces you've found pretty much nail it. :) Thankfully, Apollyon is the same color as my hair, so I don't have to worry too much about it. :P

Totally unrelated question, Veph: how do you get the WMV files to look so clean and nice in your posts? Whenever I do it, they look awful. I save mine as a JPEG and upload them directly from my computer. Maybe that's the problem.

I save them as a sized screenshot to begin with, and increase it to around 3000 pixels tall. This gives me a huge, clean image. Then I take that and shrink it. Since it started out at such a high resolution the resized version looks nice and crisp. :)

I love it, it's just look nice and natural. It looks like someone who is going into a battle and yet regal enough.

Thanks everyone. :)

I can't believe my RNG luck. Yesterday I finished the quest chain that allows you to summon Nightbane - and he dropped the chest piece first kill!

Then this morning I thought I'd do a quick HoR run for the bow (I've heard the drop rate is terrible for it), and once again...drops first try!

I have almost the whole set now, the hardest part will definitely be the belt from Heigan. Still, it's coming together. :) One thing I need to find is a staff though. :/ Unfortunately most of the ones that would look perfect show the enchant, and that ugly green blob just spoils the look altogether. Does anyone know of a staff (or a polearm I suppose, for whenever Kiril drops for me) that hides the enchant glow, but that still might work with my colour theme?

Hmm! I'm wondering what this shirt would do to the looks of your set? :D It's got that teal color going on.

Haha, I was actually looking at that shirt while browsing pieces. :) The colours are perfect, but you can only see a small bottom rim of it beneath the chestpiece, so there wasn't much purpose in putting it in the set.

Blackened Spear for a polearm
Darkmoon Magestaff is a bit rustic, but a blue glow staff

Oh, thanks for the Darkmoon Magestaff suggestion, I hadn't known about that one. Might be tricky to find, but maybe I'll see one on the AH. I don't mind if it's rustic, as long as it doesn't glow bright green it'll be perfect. :D I think the Blackened Spear is a definite contender as well, should I happen to get a polearm. I'm sure I will eventually, just a matter of luck in DS.

The staff was on the AH! :D I love it, it's just what I wanted. Something simple that wouldn't detract from the outfit, and the little blue glow is just enough to bring it all together.

For some reason, the glow on the staff brings my attention to Skorn's eyes. That's a good thing. :D

Really pretty set. I love the matching colors. It looks so naturally perfect.
If you should ever consider a polearm try this one: http://www.wowhead.com/item=43600
It hides the enchant and you can transmog it, although it is a white item. My druid uses it and the big wood with blue glow appearance really grew on me.

So, purchased the Cord of Dragon Sinew today, and surprisingly I found it to match quite well with the set since it has the little blue glow at the front. Though it has a bit of brown in it, it actually helps the staff blend in a bit better overall.

Since in-game Skorn will always have the usual tan belly, I figure it can't hurt to have a slight match in that direction.

I think I already know the answer, but if Blizz ever released a black devilsaur with a gray belly, would you tame that instead and let your current Skorn go? Or, would you keep your Skorn and just imagine him with the gray belly? :) Just curious, I doubt that'll ever happen.

I've actually thought about that, haha. I would change him to the grey belly. :) It would be perfect for him, so I would let him morph into that colour. ^^ I don't exactly like the thought of releasing the same Devilsaur I've had all these years, but that would be the sole exception that I could do it for. Or I could get lucky and they could change Tyrantus into the grey-bellied model, meaning Skorn would just change too. All hypothetical situations though, and I don't think I'll ever have to make that decision.

You said you didn't want attention brought to Skorn's tan belly? I thought the tan bit is a nice match to your natural skin colour, ok it's not as dark but you've got all the components there for the colour mix so it works well with or with out that sinew belt.

As usual your sets are amazing! The cape you have with this one is perfection!
