reputation question

I was under the impression that Burning Crusade dungeons did not give tabard-related rep?

I'm in the middle of doing Sethekk and I'm getting Goblin rep with each kill.

edited for stupid error: I MEANT to write burning Crusade, but had put Lich King...

The Alliance/Horde faction tabards are fairly promiscuous and seem to work in BC and WotLK dungeons as well. It's pretty cool as in BC dungeons you can get two different reps per kill.

As far as I know those are the only ones though. The other Cata and LK tabards only seem to work in the dungeons from their respective expansions

BC dungeons dont work with the city rep tabards. I didnt get any rep for Ironforge in there at all while wearing it. Wrath dungeons I got rep though.

Well theres your problem Sethekk halls is a BC dungeon not a Lich king dungeon. I can't remmber if you can gte city rep from them tho.

I'm getting both Goblin (Bilgewater Cartel) and Lower City rep.
I'm wearing the Bilgewater tabard.

and my other toon is wearing Darkspear Troll tabard, and she's getting both Darkspear and Lower City.

Oh yup sounds about right. Lower City rep for the dungeon and City rep for the tablards. Makes sence to get city rep from them as any level can use them (I think?) other rep talbards only work in their expacks.

it's just odd.. I don't know why, for some reason I thought I had read that Burning Crusade dungeons didn't give rep when you wore a tabard... unless.. is that Lich King dungeons that won't give city rep? no, that can't be.. I've been running heroic Lich Kings solo to gain city rep on a couple of my toons.

Maybe you were doing non-Heroic, but you can most certainly get city rep in BC heroics. I was doing it just recently. I was getting Thrallmar and Silvermoon rep at the same time in Hellfire instances.

I'm doing non-heroic BC right now anyway, and it's giving City rep (via tabard) to my toons.

Yeah it was non heroic. D: It must've been a recent change. Cause like in 4.2, I wasnt gettin squat.

I just leveled my druid through BC, and it was kinda random--some dungeons would give me Stormwind rep when I was wearing my tabard, and some wouldn't. And some were giving me "Alliance" rep that didn't actually move any of my reputation bars. :-/

I was doing Auchindoun last night, and I was getting capital city rep for every kill, along with Lower City rep...

Of corse you would be getting Lower city rep all those ones near shat give lower city rep (besides mana tombs)

I believe there are hidden Alliance and Horde reputations. I swear they used to show up in the Armory, but don't appear to anymore. Any rep with a city faction would also contribute to the Alliance/Horde faction. It looks like non-elite trash mobs are giving zero city rep but still giving overall faction rep. Odd.

You're right, there is a hidden Alliance/Horde faction bar that goes up, and it does count toward the number of factions you need for the achievements. They sometimes show up if you're using certain xp/rep bar addons.

If I'm not mistaken, there's also one for the Steamwheedle Cartel too.

Ok, situation weird.

Doing Sethekk (regular, non-heroic) two nights in a row.

Both nights wearing Bilgewater Cartel tabard.

Night 1:
elite mobs = Bilgewater rep, Lower City rep
non-elite mobs = "Horde rep"

Night 2:
elite mobs = Bilgewater rep, Lower City rep
non-elite mobs = .... zilch, zippo, nada, nothing

Same toons, nothing has changed.

On night two, I also ran two non-heroic Lich King instances: Utgarde Keep, and The Nexus.

Utgarde gave Bilgewater rep
The Nexus did not.

This is all getting far too confusing.

I'm also pretty sure that I was getting MORE Bilgewater rep with each kill in Sethekk Halls than in Utgarde Keep.

I wish Wowhead had the info about which instances give which reps. Is there another site that does?

That's one of the reasons I was asking if the NR tabards were the same.

that COULD make sense, except Auchindoun also gives Lower City rep... this in addition to the Capitol City tabard rep it's giving.

Regulars only gives rep up to a certain amount. I believed Honored. If you're already honored, it will give you nothing normally so it should give you rep from the tabard.
