I read a post about this in Vephriel's blog where she talked about some pets that she felt connected to regardless of whether or not they were currently in her stable. I have a couple of pets like that, namely Vultros, who I can release whenever I need the space and don't feel bad about it. And if I ever miss him, he's almost always up in Westfall waiting for me. :D

What are your guys' rotational pets?

I actually feel this way about all my pets. They are friends not possessions, so they don't need to stay with me all the time.

My rotational pet is Ashtail. Love having her around to quest with and is easy enough to re-tame if I have the urge to tame something else and I've forgotten to leave space available.

Anthriss :) I won't let go of Kirix b/c of the 4k gold he cost me in repairs... But, I released him, and then there he was, staring at me like "mooooom???" >.>;

I've got two types of pets I'm attached to. I have the ones that I had tamed, and no longer have, and I have the ones that I constantly re-tame.

For the first, Olm and Arcturis are both extremely beloved to me. Neither one is presently in my stable, but I feel very strongly about checking for them and wandering about with them when they're actually there. If we get multiple talent trees ,I'll be re-taming Arcturis, but Olm I'm quite happy swinging by to give a hug to whenever I'm in the area.

On the other hand, my worm, Ebonlocke, has been released and re-captured a variety of times. I'm still just as bonded with him as I ever was, but I think we both know that if a pet has to be released for me to pick something up, it'll be Ebonlocke, and I will always return as soon as I have put them in the stable and cleared the spot. He always returns to Dragonblight to stand there and look badass (less so now that he's no longer elite, but the idea's still there) .

I have two pets that I consider being in my Rotating Stable. My rhino, Baby, and Volos, my serpent. But really the whole of Azeroth is one big stable since there's no penalty, other than some rares being harder to find, for releasing and retaming a pet as many times as you wish.

I have a few. One's the red plaguehound from Kara. I've tamed Arcturis a few times--too many SB's already, though, can never find room for him. I retame the brown chimera now & then, used to tame Trachela quite often, various worgs & wolves (Gorefang being a big one), the diseased black bear & a couple others :)

I only just noticed this thread. There are a few that I don't really use but I feel a strong connection to.

Firstly the Daggertail Lizard (red warpie). It was gone before I even got to BEM. When I first heard that there was a missing colour of warp stalker I posted a few times hoping Blizzard would add one or two back. Of course that didn't happen for a very long time. But it did get me wondering what other colours of beasts had been removed, or existed but weren't tamable. I soon had a small list. Which grew into a huge list. Then apparently got noticed. :). Anyway when the Daggertail was finally re-added it meant a lot to me as it kick started everything I got involved in here.

There are a number of others but one that comes to mind first is Spiteflayer, the yellow two-headed vulture. On the beta he was originally green like the rest. At the time I wasn't 100% certain that Noah was who he claimed to be (though I was fairly sure). When that bird turned yellow I knew without any doubt. A bird was now yellow because I had suggested it. I couldn't believe it. I remember being so excited and have always had a soft spot for him. I have tamed him and renamed him Buttercup but I rarely bring him out.

For most of BC threw Middle of Wrath my main was a hunter named Measa. He was a MM and the beauty at his side all that time was Phantom, his loyal Ghost Saber.

Eventually I did get him into raiding and got to admiring some of the other hunters that where in my guild. Now I noticed that they where MM also and I took that as the Que to go BM. Something I had considered when they added the exotic beast families.
Looking at my limited space, I opted to release Phantom back into the wild so that Measa could tame Loque'nahak. Something that took three weeks in Sholazar Basin and many false alarms.
But at the start of Cata I opted to do an alt hunter named Mecho. And almost as soon as she hit 20 I took Mecho up to Darkshore and started looking for this mighty cat. Which was then named Requiem.
There where 2 reasons I did this.
The first was because I wanted to be able to enjoy leveling again. The second was to a sure myself that I could get my old Leveling partner back if I ever wanted to again.

Off the top of my head? Broken Tooth. She joined my stables as Nala back in Vanilla, but I had to make room after the attack speed normalization hit (who else remembers three stable slots? I'm not the only one I hope :c). Even now, when I see her snoozing behind Dragon's Mouth it's like spotting an old friend.

I love all my hunter-pets and kissed my monitor the day Blizz blessed us with more stable slots. I don't, however, tend to release a pet I've tamed unless I absolutely have to have the slot for something more awesome. Certainly the rare and exotic spawns I keep are prize friends that aren't going anywhere (and I have most of them).

I do keep a slot open whenever I'm in the field in case I have an impulse for a tame. In the old days that would have meant perhaps hours of "training" time as you worked him/her up the ladder of levels. But now you can have a hard working level 85 for just the time it takes to assign talent points.

So I'll often tame a local beast of some sort just for fun. Maybe a crab or a monkey might strike my fancy, or a spider. It's all in fun.
