Quick Question, I did a search and didn't see anything so don't think its been posted.

When I tamed Angered Arakkoa Protector I did it so he kept the blue aura that he had, I just got him out today for a raid and well its gone. Anyone else notice this on theirs?

I had one - I seem to recall the aura either dropped or faded a lot on death, so I got rid of it.

I still have one as I read that the aura doesn't drop off... will check on it when I get time.

I think there was some variability in the results, but no one was able to provide any concrete / non-speculative evidence as to why one person's pet lost the aura on death and the next person's didn't.

Then Blizzard did various unknown things behind the scenes that were supposed to limit trick tames, causing an upsurge in the number of people reporting "lose on death" results, but there always seemed to be someone reporting otherwise.

And that's probably how it will continue, until / unless Blizzard shuts it down altogether.

The aura can still be trick tamed.

It's only partly true that it loses its aura after death:

The lower part of the aura (the blue smokey stuff under the bird's body) dissapears after death (have tried this twice now and both times it was definately gone after the bird died and was ressed).
The upper part of the aura (the blue smokey stuff around the bird's head) persists after death.

The overall effect is to look a bit "washed out" after pet death as the lower aura is a bit more noticeable in my opinion. However it still looks much cooler than the plain non trick-tamed Angered Arakkoa Protector does :)

i've tamed two during the Shattering. the first one completely lost its aura. i abandoned it and tamed another. that one lost part of the aura. abandoned to make room for the new Cata pets.

Might be something to do with your graphic settings. I just checked my Bird and I couldn't see her aura until I raised my settings. Scared me for a minute. :)

The bird has a really strong glow as a npc but when it dies or is tamed it loses most of the glow but retains a very small portion, making it still etheral but more out of phase rather then a ghost, a guildy and i tried to tame for 2 hours cause the /petabandon macro was gone and i noticed with all my failed attempts a faint glow but definitely not the one it used to have. Been forever since ive been there so something may of changed, i stopped liking them for their etheralness cause i felt it ruined their gorgeous color.

So I just checked on my Mystral and he still has his glow like he did just after taming. It seems to fade a bit when he's moving but gets stronger again when the bird stays put in one place. My bird never died and I'm planing to keep it that way in hope to keep the strong glow.

Yes I checked on mine last night and the glow is still there, but it seems fainter to me *shrugs*

I was just wondering if people are having the same problems as of right now with the angered arakkoa protector. Cause i just got mine out and the purple glow is going.. theres only a feint slight blue myst, nothing like before. Can you still tame the pets and get the glow again or no?

I've got the fire boar, lone hunter with sword, and both oily pets, but I never got around to taming one of these until tonight after reading that keeping their glow was still possible. I can confirm that it is still possible to tame an Angered Arakkoa Protector with the blue mist effect. The thing is, some of the blue mist is lost after death. Mine looked exactly like the npc version right after taming, but after dying once, half of its mist seemed to be gone, making the aura seem fainter. Another post mentioned that the "bottom half" of the aura is gone, and that's exactly what mine looks like. While there was a sort of "pillar" of smoke around him that went completely to the ground before dying, the pillar seemed to end right under its head after death. You can still see the mist if you look closely enough, and it does look cooler than the normal version of the bird, but it just doesn't stand out nearly as much after death. I don't know if half of the mist was always lost upon death, but maybe if the change was recent, all pre-existing pets that have ever died before lost it.
