So, I've been camping Aeonaxx for about 2 weeks now. Probably putting more hours in him, then I do at work. So, yesterday I decided to go to sleep an hour early (like 1 AM). I usually don't log off. I just close my laptop. For some reason, WarCraft still runs in the background for another 5 minutes before the laptop shuts down.

So I log on this morning and low and behold, Aeonaxx was cached in my NPC scanner. What unbelievable luck! If I just held out for 5 more minutes! Argh! I did not think I would sink nearly 100 hours of game time camping him. I'm on a server that doesn't camp Aeonaxx much, if at all.

That's terrible, I'm so sorry! If only it had been the Blood Seeker cached...
What spawn point are you camping at? There's a way to cover about three or four at once, which is what I did. If you're camping in a secluded spot, you might not be getting the detection range you should be.

I'm kind of "cheating". I have two accounts, so I'm camping the north and south points where I'll be in range. The south point concerns me, because of the distance between the SE and SW, but I was assured NPC Scanner can tag from either south from where I am. It's just so tedious! Three weeks and only one sighting and I know Deepholm is not being camped by others. I actually want to start playing again, not camping religiously!

Boy, am I going to milk this thread. I decided to shower. Like 2 minutes. This guy spawns. Of course, he would spawn right in the middle of the day where there are alts. all over the place. I'm seriously feeling very defeated at this point. I also think the guy who mounted him probably didn't win.

We're 2 days off from almost 30 days of camping. OMG, this is insane!

My third Aeonaxx sighting goes to waste. I love how the game kicks you while you're down. Aeonaxx spawns at the peak of online traffic. I love it, love it, love it. Some guy/gal, who was just floating on by, was able to get him. Meanwhile, I -- the person who has been camping roughly 10 hours a day for over a month -- gets arse out ... again. I'm honestly pass the point of stubbornness. This is so unfair.

Aww that is really unfair :( I'm not camping him or her I kind of feel better saying girl dragon for some reason guess she's a girl to me haha

Anyways I'm not going to camp her I'm just going to go to deepholm every day to do the dailies to get exalted with my guild to buy the scorpion mount once and for all! And HOPE that I see her out of pure LUCK lol

I mean I got lucky with those rares some were because of a holiday some weren't I've gone from sitting on my ass to actually doing something starting with my guild and then with tol barads dragon and so on.

I'm done with doing absolutely nothing come MoP I'm going to get to 90 and force myself to get exalted with everything so that I can haz! there mounts and whatever else is good for me!

The end :)
Was good to get that off my chest though I don't really have anyone else I can tell because my wow friend won't believe me anyways hehe

Really sorry to read about your luck; I agree, it is completely unfair. I know what you mean about the game seeming to kick you when you're down. I really hope that he spawns for you soon, and that you get him.

It really is unfair, I'm so sorry. :/ If I might recommend something, try not to camp all day, every day. I know you might want this mount a lot but sometimes you've got to think of your health first. Camping can be a stressful process, especially when something this shitty happens to you. Trying finding something else to do on WoW. Raids, mount runs, rep farming, etc. Do that every now and again instead of camping. Then, when you're done with something, say, during the day, camp in the evening. That's what I'm doing with Aeonaxx at the moment. I'm rep grinding mostly during the day and doing my daily/weekly mount runs and then in the evening I'll plonk myself down in Deepholm and play a game, watch a film or read a book. Or browse the internet with WoW in the background. (ALWAYS have WoW in windowed mode or full-screen windowed mode though as then you can hear NPCScan if it goes off.) If you do this every now and again the process is much less stressful. It might take a longer time, sure, but when and where Aeonaxx spawns is completely random anyway.

I really do hope you get some better luck soon though!

what a good tip for you might be, wait till Pandaria comes out. Deepholm will be abandoned for a couple weeks.

That's what I did for TLPD, first couple weeks of Cata I was camping away in Storm Peaks. You'll go moderately crazy not being able to level your character, but you're giving yourself the best odds. (since how many others would NOT be in Pandaria the week after release?)

What Royi said. Not only will Deepholm be totally empty of people, but once you grab your new mount, the newer zones won't be as crowded and leveling will be so much smoother!

Aw sorry to hear about your terrible luck. :( I know how you feel and I think its safe to say that that’s how the rares work- they wait for you to leave then pop up and laugh (evily).
I missed poseidus by 2 minutes because I stopped swimming my route for a second to answer some questions from the guild. When I finally tagged one for myself it was when I was coming back from being afk.
Same with TLPD. Missed him by no more then five min because I logged on/off at a bad time....six times. just like you I lost him to some passerby who was just leveling through the zone. It took me 2-3 months to get both mounts and a friend waited 4 months for his Aeonaxx- but we did get them.
Just don’t give up. You will find him sooner or later and somewhere in the game data there is an Aeonaxx spawn that has been made just for you, it just takes time to find it. You could always wait for Mop and snag him when everyone is rushing for “realm first” if you feel like you need a break.
Good luck and hope you find him soon!

Damn. Aeonaxx was not an easy camp. I "wasted" a month camping this fool. He finally spawned, but honestly I'm not as thrilled about this if it was, say a pet. Solely on the amount of time I camped him. I think it must've been camping him for well over 1500 hours.

Oh. I'm implying I finally got him today.
