Even if you don't have access to the MoP beta testing, you can now check out a good portion of the coming changes on the Public Test Realms (PTR).

Patch 5.0 includes all of the changes that will be available for players who do NOT purchase the expansion. (Not all of it is on the PTR yet, though.) So it's a good way to see what's going to happen to you no matter what.

What's included:

• Account-wide Achievements, pets, and mounts
• New UI for mounts and mini-pets
• AOE Looting
• World Event: Attack on Theramore Isle
• New talent system, updated glyph system, improved abilities, and spells; new spells are now learned automatically

Edit: I *think* the mini-pet battle system is available on the PTR, but I want to get confirmation before I list it.

For hunters specifically:

• Ranged weapon slot removed; ranged weapons no longer have a minimum range
• New hunter pet talent system (http://www.wow-petopia.com/pandaria/talents.html); pets can choose from any of the specs (Cunning, Ferocity, Tenacity)
• Hunters can tame basilisks and fen striders (in the water strider family)
• Some pet family abilities have changed (http://www.wow-petopia.com/pandaria/abilities.html)

What's not included:

• Pandarens
• Monks
• Access to any of the Pandaria zones

You can. You click on your Wow1 and not Wow2 and poof it works!

My WoW account with beta access - WoW3, for me - can't get to the PTR realms. But my old PTR WoW1 account, which is on the same Blizzard uber-account, can - and thru the same launcher. How this works for people who have beta access and have never tried the PTR (and who may not have a WoW1 account), I have no idea.

I do seem to be able to copy the same live character to both beta and the PTR ... although I haven't actually made it onto a PTR realm yet, so goodness knows if it's waiting for me there or not.

Wasn't it stated somewhere on MMO-Champ that pet battles wouldn't be in yet? I think there was but I'm too tired to re-check ATM. x.x

I'll have to try that out... I have a WoW 1 account that was added to my account by a hacker, but I may not be able to use it since I don't have any toons on it.

I just tried it, and it won't let me download the PTR, despite having a second account (it's a trial account, so that might be the problem). It did let me copy characters to the PTR, but I can't access it..

PTR has been having server load issues. A lot of people can only be logged in for 3 to 5 minutes.

Note: Battle Pets are *NOT* available on the PTR. On the PTR, this requires 'Level 91'. So while the critters and their tameability (and the like) *are* in game, you are not able to train in pet battling, and thus not able to do anything with the actual 'battling'.
