PTR Pets

I recently got on the PTR and started messing around with a premade Hunter. I really focused on the new families that are available on the PTR: Water Striders and Basilisks. First off: on the PTR the quest strider Boglash in Zangarmarsh is no longer the albino model (probably to make the rare one in MoP more "special") but now uses the green model. I also went into the Underbog and the Black Stalker is indeed tameable. I personally prefer the green skin, but it's nice to know the black one is there too and much easier to get than running SSC.

As for Basilisks, I tried the green ones and the purple ones in Terokkar Forest and they were both tameable. However, I personally don't like how they run, so I won't be getting one on live when they're available. Still, neat pets. I really wish they would have given us Hydras finally, but oh well. I did actually try to tame a Hydra too.

As a final note, it's interesting to see my bow on my back instead of a spear/staff/whatever. I kind of like it, to be honest.

You should probably read up on a lot of the threads as tameabilities are already mentioned for everything you mentioned.

Glad you got to have fun though.

Ahh ok I wasn't sure since in the Water Striders section the Black Stalker is still listed as Untameable.

Mania, who maintains the site, recently had major surgery and has not been able to update the main sections of the MoP Pets on Petopia in awhile, what you are seeing up right now was from a few builds ago in the Beta I believe. She'll manage to update it eventually, but until then, most forum members are following these posts for updates on pets, and adding to them when they need to.

Thanks for this post magepower; I know I was unaware that the Black Stalker is now tameable. I went back through old posts, and the only thing I could find about it was a screenshot without explanatory text.

I hadn't heard anything about The Black Stalker either.

Though I suspect it won't last, sadly, as it's labeled as the final boss, and requires it's death to complete a random.

*stops hunter at 69* *queues for Underbog purposely* *runs ahead of group on the 2nd to last boss, feigns the giants off.* *tames Black Stalker* >_>

As it wasn't tameable during the first pass, but was added later, I'm pretty sure their decision was deliberate. It's older content, and I imagine most people who want the Black Stalker at level will talk a guildie or battlenet friend into running them through Underbog anyway.

Don't forget about those raptors in Drakkari Raptor Mount on the PTR.

Where on the PTR are those raptors? I went to Zul'drak and looked at the raptors in front of Drak'tharon Keep and they still use the Outland model.

Also, I just looked at Rams, Shoveltusks, and Stags and all of them are still untameable despite the new Goat family.

its the one with the saddles and they are red and orange....kill the riders to spawn them.

When I was in Beta the riding skinned raptors were one of the last things I tamed, the map below shows their location, unless they moved or were removed in the last Beta patch, which I stopped playing before. They were level soemwhere between 86-88.

Good find! Maybe all (or at least most) of the 'mount skinned' raptors ingame are tamable.

I remember wain finding those raptors actually. I'm like the only hunter on the PTR that remember to tame one and now everyone is asking, "Omg where did you get that!"
