Well, I just tamed the Terracotta Defender, a level 87 Quilen and am unpleased with a certain issue.

Whenever it is not moving, it just sits. While some might find this endearing, it bothers me that the moment I stop moving, it sits. Always.

If this is intended, I wish it was more like the bear pet "sit" - not always, only an occasional cute idle animation.
If it's not intended, tell me how to fix it, please!

I have heard zoning or relogging helps it. I know once I had logged out it stopped.

is that the only issue? does it attack and follow you normally? or does it slide on the sitting animation? id like to know because i think that makes it look like a loyal companion :)

He attacks normally, but he freezes the moment he's out of combat or stops moving.
What really bugs me is how he turns while seated when he "aligns himself" with my direction, because it looks really odd.

Mine did that too till I went to the next area, Zouchin Province, via that air balloon thing. After that it fixed itself. I want to take him back to where I tamed it and see if he does it again though.

Im pretty sure its because after you interact with the chest, they turn untargetable (and untameable) as a result. I had to kill the quilen's cause of an annoying quester stopping me and i found the hard way i couldnt tame them after interacting with the item and doing the quest (i found later that they stop interacting after just toying with the chest, not completing the quest). Their default stance is the sit, so its probably like their grey stone cousins in the above-ground mogu ruins in that they have some 'buff' issues, only this one is potentially not a buff at all but just an interaction problem

That worked, thank you so much!
I'm still undecided on whether I'm keeping this guy or the cobalt one, but I guess that decision will have to wait until I'm 90.

The name means "sharp flint or stone," by the way :P

My only Quilen so far is a Terracotta Guardian from KunLai. The one that turns organic red. I thought you meant that one at first. The Guardians are bugged where if you wait until it turns to flesh before beginning the tame, it will sometimes turn back to stone just as the tame completes and will stay that way forever and be unusable since it will just be a statue that never moves. To be safe, you have to start the tame while they are in the stone form. I actually like and maybe even prefer the organic Quilen look to the stone one but that won't stop me from getting Portent when I'm able to. My red Quilen is called KungPao.
