Dire Horns?

Unread post by Holgarr »

Straight from the patch-notes...

Dire Horns have been added as a tameable species for Hunters that have learned the required skill. Aspiring Dire Horn owners should seek out clues regarding these auspicious beasts.

Wonder what they mean?

I suspect we'll be getting triceratops, and they'll likely be challenge tames, judging by that teaser. I'm excited!

The patch note seems to imply Exotic, as well.

I don't see it as such.

I see it as we'll probably have to do a quest to acquire something like "Dire Horn Bond" or something, enabling us to tame them.

I doubt they'd make a hunter quest pet only available to one spec. That'd be like making green destruction only, when they're not the only ones who use fire.

Well, that depends on what the patch notes mean.

If "required skill" means an earned ability, Myzou is right. If "required skill" means "exotic beasts," Ziarre is right. Or if they're exotic AND require us learning an ability, you're both right! We'll have to wait and see! :D

I think it would be a bit sucky if they where exotics if you have to learn something new. Seems like a bit of a waste of time and work that could go into something else XD

I'd like one but I'm sure as hell not going BM to get one XD

We're bound to get a new exotic family sooner or later, and non-BM players are bound to be disappointed when it happens. It's not a question of if it will happen, rather it's a question if this is when it happens.

I still think it means a skill you have to "earn" through a quest, not exotic pets.

I could be wrong though, obviously. I just think they wouldn't restrict such a HQ skinned pet to one spec. The backlash would not be good for them.

I agree that it seems to be something we have to earn and learn to tame, all because of this line:

"Aspiring Dire Horn owners should seek out clues regarding these auspicious beasts."

That to me screams "FIND OUT HOW TO TAME THEM IN SOME MANNER WOO!"

As a hunter who loves most BM pets but just doesn't like the rotation / mechanics / playstyle of the spec AT ALL... I hope you're right

If it ends up being BM only I'll still be happy for all the BM Hunters out there but... Give me something shiny in SV spec please, Blizz :P Either way it's nice they'll be tameable in some way, whatever that'll end up being

Honestly, I'm going to have to assume this is going to be a quest to tame them. I mean they gave locks a green fire quest right? So why not give us a species that we actually have to learn a thing or two about before we can obtain em? In all honestly I love the idea because I get to feel that there is a bond between the pet and me. -warm fuzzy feeling-

Triceratops has been my favotite dinosaur since I was a kid. I was the child who had all the fisher price dinosaurs and always made the brown triceratops the hero dinosaur.

If in fact dire horns are triceratops, I will not need a new pet ever again. It will be my everything! If there's a variety of colors I'll have one for tanking, one for PvP and one for PvE. I can't wait! I wonder what skill it'll have.

Good lord. This is most excellent news.
I'll first get this out of the way: maybe, in an expansion or two, we can tame the pterodactyls too.

Second, YESSSSSSS!!

Here's the skins that we will probably get:

Green

Orange (unarmored, of course)

White (unarmored, of course)

Blue

I'm so excited!
