Tamed Iceclaw recently, and.. is this normal or did it break

Unread post by Kilroy »

I guess by "break" I mean "become totally awesome."

Basically, well... this happened:

Image

Those little poofy sparkly clouds follow him everywhere. It's actually really cool and I'd rather not have it go away. It remains even after I log out or zone, not sure if it'll stay if I die.

I'm thinking of going to camp him on another hunter to see if the effect comes up on that one, assuming I didn't do something weird.

And if it isn't intended... please don't fix it, Blizzard. It's so pretty.

Sorry if the pics are too big or something. I can fix it if needed... and if newbies have access to an edit feature.

Looks like a levitate buff. Someone buff your pet with it or something? Its there a visible buff on it? When and where did this happen? Since buff pets are fixed yet again I'm wondering how this happened. *also checked and this cat doesn't have that affect in the wild either*

It doesn't have any buffs that I can see and it's definitely not floating.

Did this happen immediately after tame/during tame? Or did this happen later on or during an outing with the pet, I'm only asking as you're nowhere near her spawning zone from the looks of it.
Also, for verification sake, may we please have a pic of her with her portrait targeted?

On a side note, I too went to check on this one in the wild only to come up empty handed. I'll post back if I get lucky. :3

lol yeah, I was in Blackrock Mountain when I shot those. I didn't even notice until then so it could just be a bug with levitate or something. I'm on my mage at the moment, but I can get another screenshot in a little bit with the portrait, assuming it's still there when I log back in.

Hope that's good enough. I was uh.. slightly ashamed to not have named it yet. I'm kind of terrible at that.

Ah, from playing around I found that it might just be a cause of a borked Levitate spell that just didn't properly dissolve after it's ten minute timer.

Meet Sprinkles.
Image

Sprinkles has been levitated with the glyph of the heavens. The Glyph allows for the cloud to keep showing up for the duration of levitate.

So, I'm guessing if you've run anything with a priestly friend lately then this might be the cause as it's the same visual affect. Clearing your cache may end up fixing this glitch, but it makes me curious if anyone else can actually see the trail as well. If they can, then you most likely have a glitched pet with levitate visuals, if not then it's just on your end and clearing your cache may fix this even though I know you don't wanna fix it. ;3

Ah, that's kind of disappointing.

Totally not clearing my cache unless I have to, though.

it could very well be levitate, but were still overlooking a detail. ITS NOT FLOATING. of course, it may just be a glitch upon a glitch, you never know :P might want to see if anyone else can see it

That's actually why I called it a visual glitch. :p Either the visual didn't dissolve after the levitate wore off or possibly something happened either zoning in or out of either an instance or a CRZ or when the pet actually got hit. Since you technically 'zone in' to several zones, it might have caused it. Anything could have happened really, but this pet neither in the wild or tamed has any special visual abilities. On WoWhead it's listed with only one move in the wild and that is Rake.

I actually didn't overlook the fact that it's not floating and went over the possibility of what it might be in my last post. Since it's quite clear that it's the Levitate + Glyph of the Heavens visual effect, I would say that it's simply client side and will most likely clear up after a cache clearing/server restart. :)

I FOUND OUT THE CAUSE! Woo!

Meet Frosting. Upon further derping around with the spell, I found that after you log, your toon stands around for a bit before the server actually DCs it. In that small window, I cast Levitate on Frosting before the toon and pet disappeared. I logged back in later to find that Frosting, indeed had the visual glitch now as well. :3

I had a friend log in to check to see if he saw it as well, looks like he can. So, I believe this might actually be server side, but don't get your hopes up as it might get cleared on the restarts happening this morning.

EFFECT IS CLEARED ON PET DEATH!

I wonder if other spell effects could be preserved that way.

That is a Levitate glitch. That happened to me on my Pandaren. I had the clouds all over me but I wasn't floating. A GM had to help me fix it and told me it was good I put in a ticket so they could remove it cause it can cause distraction for other players or something.

I tried to do the same thing with the Misdirection glyph but haven't gotten it to work yet... I'd love to always have a larger than normal pet! Maybe Chibee could go back to his former glory :)
