best rare spawn alert addon wanted
I am looking for the current best add-on that alerts/informs the user of rare spawn mob spawns etc.
Thanks
Thanks

From what I know having both Silver Dragon and NPCScan is the best way to go.

thanks I'll give them ago.

I agree with Rawr. IT's what I use
SilverDragon
NPCScan
NPCScan_AutoAdd
NPCScan_Overlay
SilverDragon
NPCScan
NPCScan_AutoAdd
NPCScan_Overlay
Re: best rare spawn alert addon wanted
What does running NPCScan and SilverDragon together give you?
I'm just using SilverDragon and NPCScan_Overlay.

I use npc scan and overlay
Re: best rare spawn alert addon wanted
NPCScan uses WoW's cache to locate rares. When you come into range of one and your game client notices it's there (even if you can't see it yet on screen) it'll go off. The drawback to it is that once an NPC's id is in the cache, NPCScan won't 'find' it again. For example: You're flying over Scholazar and NPCScan picks up Loque's id. It goes off, you swoop down only to find that someone just killed him. Now NPCScan won't pick up Loque again unless you clear out the cache WoW uses to keep track of beasts and critters and stuff. Hunter pets that are tamed rares can also set off false positives.b-morgan wrote:What does running NPCScan and SilverDragon together give you?

Silverdragon triggers off nameplates. It doesn't use the cache like NPCScan does. On the downside it seems to have be limited to what's in, or at least close to visual range.
I, and I think most hunters that are after rares, tend to run both. Doing so just allows for a better chance of spotting some rare.

I believe you are wrong about SilverDragon. It uses the cache just like _NPCScan does. See http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/silver-dragon.Boven wrote:Silverdragon triggers off nameplates. Ah. I must've been confused by the way it uses nameplates to add 'new' npc's to its list. My bad.

I also use both... NPCScan will detect a rare when you are within range of it, but as stated it caches once it finds it and you are required to reset it to detect that rare again. Silverdragon for the way I have it detects a rare when the mouse is moved over it, and seems to reset after a while and will detect it again, so if you are wanting to do a quick search and don't have the rare set up in NPCScan, silver dragon can still be used to find it.
