New Races starter pets and race change and Kul tiras hunters

I was wondering, if anyone knew, if we leveled up one of the new races with unique starter pets (ex. nightborne, dark irons, void elves) and we decided to race change them, do they lose those unique starter pets?

I really want the Dark Irons fiery dog, but I love my void elves for hunters. And I seriously would roll a whole new hunter as a Dark Iron and then race change if I could keep the starter pet, but until I know for sure I'm afraid of all that time wasted, and possibly money.

Any insight into what does/will happen is much appreciated, thank you!

I also forgot I wanted to ask thoughts on what starter pet Kul Tiras humans could have.

I am torn between wanting them to have one of the Durst cat looks and not having that.
I want them too, but I don't because then I'd have to choose between Dark Irons and them to change hahaha

Is this still possible I have a void elf I am leveling but kind of tired now of him and was wanting to race change him to maybe a dark iron will I keep the void stalker I don't care about the dog.
