Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Just tamed a swarmer on my female dwarf... and stopped by the brewfest for a spiffy green hat (no leather armor for head slot at her level).

If you're replying, hit full editor at the bottom of the post. Then just scroll down that page to upload attachment. You have to choose the file, then add it. It'll automatically appear at the bottom of your post.

Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Just a quick update. I have copied a character across (live to current build 13117) and my swarmer has copied intact.
I did it to the PTR and beta at the same time. On the current PTR build 13082 I have a teal scorpid (with correct pet talents etc), on the beta it is a brown worker Silithid (with no pet talents, class etc).

Ohh, so he never gets classed as a beetle? Had forgotten that. Thanks for the confirmation!

Are you sure it was a swarmer that you had tamed and not a creeper? I just tried again with the current beta built and mine was removed again.

Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Yes, it's definitely a swarmer... Creeper's don't turn into brown Silithid workers.
If you think it's removed - try moving all viewable pets into the stable, and see if theres now something waiting for you in "Call Pet 1" or "Call Pet 2". Make sure you've learnt as many "Call Pet #" as possible - as it can get shifted down into the other ones. Very hard to tell when you can't actually see it

Thanks. I'll try moving things around and see what happens...
Ok, I tried again with the same result. I'm thinking that it might be getting placed into stable slot five which I don't have access to for another two levels... Going to try copying again with only four pets...
Well still no luck. Unless it is in slot five my Swarmer doesn't make it throught the copy.
Here's what my stable window looks like when I first open it:

Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
What I do first is take everything out of my active slots. Then I see whether the option to summon my swarmer is present (which it usually is). If you shuffle pets around it may move from one space to another - hard to see thought due to being invisible
One thing to try is to put a single pet in Slot 1 of the active pets. Then cycle him between each empty stable slot - checking the Call Pet option each time.

Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Ok, I messed around a bit more and, like Darknez said, the Swarmer only shows in the Call Pet flyout and not in the stable window... at all... ever. It's messed up. After moving all pets around in every active and inactive slot the Swarmer never popped up in the stable.
A few details about how bugged the Swarmer currently is in Beta:
A few details about how bugged the Swarmer currently is in Beta:
- Listed as a Scorpid, but it's Call Pet icon is a whistle and not an animal portrait
- Has no access to any pet tallents. It doesn't even get a tab in the tallent window
- Has no pet abilities. ie. Growl, Cower, Claw, Scorpid Poison
- Cannot be fed, but a Glyph of Mend Pet works to keep it happy enough to hang around
- Can still attack both NPCs and PvP players
- Can still gain experience and presumably level up as well since it went from 75 in live to 77 in beta.

Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Bare in mind it's not meant to be tamable - and we don't know if it will ever go live. I think there are some workers classified as beasts - but none are tamable on the beta realms.
Also Grigg- it's called Scorpid because you never named it after taming it on live It's not it's class, but it's name.
I can also confirm it levels up as normal.

Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Just logged in to a beta char with the swarmer pet...
It's much larger now and classed as a Silithid - still classed as not being tameable however!

Making it a silithid and not a scorpid at least suggests someone over there has been thinking about making the ants tamable, as that seems like a fairly deliberate change...

I've already done that Ikult
Re: Silithid Swarmer - revisited
Thanks alot again Darknez!
I have been absent for some time and when I came back it was like ''POOF! Bang in the face! Right in the kisser!''
Aaand eh. I was ecstatic with lots of more Silithid and non-Silithid posts ( example: Hellhounds) and I was seriously about to make a post to ask about the ants and here you bumped this thread with a picture. What a coincidence! (It was yesterday)
So.. yay! \o/
( I already tamed one 3 months back on my hunter - hoping Blizzard doesn't change it and makes all ants tamable. I always found it ironic after Cata beta information that it was the only kind of Silithid untamable (aside from Sand Reavers, which I am still having hope for to get tamable, especially with the news of bosses in AQ being tamable <3 ) whilst the Silithid family icon is that of an ANT. I always found it odd x)
