Overall, their behavior around traps is inconsistent, based on various reports.

I was trying to hold the Portent in an unphased area to give it to someone...well, he ended up poofing to an unphased area by the time I caught up with him (from by the Five Sisters alllllll the way to his eastern end) so it worked out!

I just got Glimmer last night and he was a real pain. I could only see him in two areas. One was where he crosses the river coming out of Fox Grove and the other one was the downhill stretch between the Arboretum and the gate into the Serpent's Heart. I even marked him under the gate but as soon as he hit Serpent's Heart he disappeared, even with the mark on him. The only tracks I saw in the whole 3 hour ordeal were on the downhill stretch to the gate from the arboretum. I finally got him by just staying by the gate and chain flaring until he showed up. I have done every quest in Jade Forest too.

I wonder if his phasing has anything to do with the two different questing areas for Horde and Alliance. I haven't gotten a Horde toon to Pandaria since after 7 years, I still only have one toon at or over 85 so I don't know where the Horde quest areas are or what that area with the paratroopers is all about.

Glimmer's phasing issues have been reported by alliance and horde alike, so it just seems to be a general issue.

Good thing I don't want Glimmer. XD Only Rare I want is Savage, my pretty kitty. But, I'm waiting till I hit 90, and I can fly to get him.
In other news, I found Bloodtooth eariler. Since I'm only 86, I gave him away to a very very happy hunter. I also found Pat tracks too, but when I found Pat, another hunter was happily taming him.
The slight funny thing, the hunter that was taming Pat, I knew her in RL from school >.> I had told her about this place, and she said she'd check it out....she fell in love with the Pink Crane when she saw the picture of him (her?). I told her that I'd be happy to help her get her pink crane....

I am trying to find Portent, but the phasing seems troublesom even though I've been doing the dailies. I found his tracks once, then lost them and were unable to pick them back up, then heard someone else nabbed him.

Is there a map that marks the phasing areas so if he poofs I at least have an idea as to where he will pop up next?

If you've unlocked the dailies, he shouldn't phase anymore.

Okay, after looking over the pictures I decided I did want another one, Portent -- blue. So yesterday I hit 90 (one of the slowest, but most fun leveling to max experiences so far). After getting what gear upgrades I could, I reviewed the map and set out.

Found his tracks in the Summer fields, south of the lake. I followed them, but they poofed as the went into the area with the pandaren folks. There's a chance they weren't actually going backwards that way.

But I thought they were, so I tried to trace his route through the rest of the way, and waited at the northwestern end, flaring... no dice.

This evening I checked for his tracks again and found them in the same place, south of the river, going by the mountain. I followed them, flaring... and they started to despawn. O noes!!! Wait, were they actually going backwards? I backtracked, and the first ones I saw were still fresh. And going backwards the OTHER way. So I flared past them, and there he was... blue with a red mane!!! And now he's my preciousssss

Portent does indeed still poof in certain areas. Not sure why.

Stompy is ridiculously easy to find. >.< I found him twice today. Ran straight into his tracks, they were as clear as day, and saw one appear right in front of me so I knew where he was straight away. An hour or so later, I happened past that way and found him by accident again. The spawn timer for these rares seems way too low, I don't even consider them as rares anymore. More like elite and unique mobs that are supposed to be tricky to find, but not really rare. I was honestly hoping for a long, fun hunt for Stompy though, but it was more like he found me.

Stompy always was the easiest to find. :) He's lonely out there! Came right over to me on live when I went to get him; it was beautiful. <3

Yeah it was the same for me actually. I stopped, looked around, and suddenly there's prints heading towards me!

I have followed Portent from one end of his path to the other and back again and he never phased a single time. He also seems to be the easiest one to get. I see his tracks almost every time I go out in the Vale. I haven't spotted Stompy yet but then I don't go to that area very much.

I know this has probably been mentioned many times but tonight at 7:30pm Nesingwary server time I tamed Bloodtooth. His tracks are of course backwards. He wasn't the easiest to track since some of his tracks were underwater. So if you're looking for him being mindful of the underwater tracks. ;)

Just got Stompy. :) Ahone was up so I tried taking her down... but my timing on silencing her heals was bad and eventually she took me down with her spin. Ah well... I headed south and almost immediately spotted Stompy's tracks. I managed to flare him as he started heading up the mountain trail and tamed him.

Zhing was up too, but a much better-geared horde priest was on him already.

One more, perhaps. Perhaps

I went and got Stompy too but his Trample ability never goes off even though it is on auto-cast. Is this happening for anyone else?

Are you using him in a raid setting where the debuff is already covered?

he never does it for me either, and all I do is solo. Even against caster mobs.
