Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
As I didn't see an existing thread covering this specific topic I thought I'd add it so that petopians can keep in touch; if you are playing GW2 and are so inclined, please post your server(s) here!
(I will post mine as soon as my copy arrives)

Haven't gotten a final yet, and man we should conglomerate these threads/topics or something. XD

We really do. I just picked Tarnished Coast because it was an RP server and I tend to like those.

Depends. I need to speak with my friends. I'm likely going with most of the RPing servers.

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
I know for the rest of the betas my friend (who finally got her keys all set up) wants to try Yak's Bend. That was what I originally wanted too. It was also a big memory for me in GW1. Buuuut I think seeing a final list will be when I make my decision. Unless this is the final list...

Actually I specifically split this off from the GW2 "main" thread because questions were getting lost in the shuffle and overlooked.Meggers wrote:Haven't gotten a final yet, and man we should conglomerate these threads/topics or something. XD

Just gotta be a little more direct with asking people.

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
I'm staying away from the bigger servers for the BWE's. I like not lagging and always being in overflow servers. Not to mention, I don't mind the idea of avoiding the Yogscast stalkers, Reddit, 4chan, and GBTV.
Not sure about a server for release, but I'll probably be on Borlis Pass for the BWE's to come. When the game is live, I'll probably look at something with more legitimate PVPers, but we'll see.
Also since Friends Lists are cross-realm, don't forget you guys can add each other and keep in touch while playing that way, instead of fussing about servers (until guesting is implemented, anyway!).

There is nothing more direct short of a PM, and when you don't have a specific person in mind, that doesn't apply either.Meggers wrote:Just gotta be a little more direct with asking people.
No worries though - separating it out into its own thread seems to have done the trick.

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
That is good to know about - I don't suppose they also let you group crossrealm? (still nice even if they don't, just figured I'd ask)Fievre wrote:Also since Friends Lists are cross-realm, don't forget you guys can add each other and keep in touch while playing that way, instead of fussing about servers (until guesting is implemented, anyway!).

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
I'm not sure, I had a few friends on another server but I didn't try grouping with them. I would imagine you would be able to, because:Worba wrote:That is good to know about - I don't suppose they also let you group crossrealm? (still nice even if they don't, just figured I'd ask)
a.) overflow servers still keep you in groups, and while they're technically part of the home server you choose, it's still different
b.) you will be able to be guested over to another server, which let's you play on that server with you friend(s) there. You can group up, do structured PvP, dungeons, DEs, etc. The only thing you CAN'T do is WvW with that server; you'd have to use gems to pay for a home server change in order to WvW with a different realm.

Guesting sounds cool - so you get to be anywhere with your friends, e.g. outdoors, cities etc not just dungeons?

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
Yep, it'll be kind of like being guested to a guild hall in the original game. I dunno if you played it, or if anyone else who'll read this has, but if you got guested to a guild hall you could go to that guild's hall (which is just like an instanced area for that guild that they got) and you had access to any NPCs there and you could interact with anyone else there.
But since everything in GW2 is a billion times more elaborate, being guested to a server should allow you all the same things - grouping with the players there, PVP, dungeons, etc. Minus WvW, like I said.

This will actually be my first exposure to GW; I'd heard of it before ofc, but never actually played.

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
Wow. Really? That's actually pretty awesome. Friends and I were seperated during our time in WoW, but neither of us could afford a server transfer or really were willing to move off our realm. Not having to worry about the world my friends are rolling on would be very nice.Fievre wrote:Yep, it'll be kind of like being guested to a guild hall in the original game. Worba - It's probably not a bad thing that you haven't dabbled in the original, since they aren't very alike except location and story. The gameplay is totally different.
Aleu - Yeah it should be awesome. I'm really excited, because I'll be able to pick my server based on how the WvW is expected to go, and still be guested to play with the people I wanna play with. Definitely a good idea on Anet's part.

Re: Guild Wars 2 - What Server Are You On?
I'm currently on Sorrow's Furnace for beta, but im not really sure which server im going to choose for live.
There's a couple more memorable ones from Gw1 im thinking of, just not sure yet.
Think im gonna wait till it's closer to release.
