I'm not quite sure what I stumbled upon, but it looks like a new devilsaur skin which is translucent and "ghostly" or spirit-like. The mob "Skumblade Brute" uses a spell called "Confidence of Kros" which summons the devilsaur for a short period of time. Unfortunately the summoned beast is not targetable as far as I could tell.

In some remote corner of my brain I silently go "Maybe this opens up a chance for a spirit beast devilsaur to appear." (Well, not really, but that sure would be wonderful!)

That... looks like Skorn. If he was a ghost. The belly is even blueish!

It doesn't look to be a new skin to me, just an effect similar to Camouflage applied to regular model. Still, things like Lone Hunter are "just an effect applied" as well, so I guess it can be called a new tameable skin... if he keeps it after taming and isn't "already controlled".

It is very likely uses the black devilsaur skin as a base, but if it's an edited one (compare to the spirit porcupine, for example) or just an external effect is hard to tell. At least until we can find it in the modelviewer for some answers. I tried looking through the PTR data on modelviewer, but didn't catch anything as of yet since it seems this devilsaur is not considered a creature. It's likely classed as spell effect or suchlike due to it being summoned via the spell Skumblade Brute casts and isn't targetable afterwards leaving me to believe it's not it's own NPC.

The porcupines are actually the best rendered of the ghostly spirit beasts to date; just have a look at the detail work still visible (as opposed to blocky-butt Arcturis and the like).

There's nothing terribly imaginative about a see-through devilsaur that doesn't even have any embellishments.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course, on which they like. I just think it's kind of funny that see-through spirit beasts in general get criticized, but when it's something see-through and untameable, it's suddenly the holy grail of pets.

This comment sounds like it's begging for irritated responses, to be honest. There's nothing unimaginative about them at all. As Kalli said, they're actually well made models/textures. I personally don't like them a whole lot because, to me, they seem 'silly' but to be honest my previous comment was made in a joking manner anyway.

Also, since you mentioned being unimaginative and also used the word 'reskins'... What exactly do you think this 'spectral' devilsaur is?

But a ghostly trex is just epic, even if it is a reskin.

The porcupines are... Meh. Let's put it this way, I have yet to see a player in game using a regular porcupine.

To each their own, of course! I'm just looking at the actual quality, not gauging the amount of interest.

The main reason I feel the spirit beast should've been a dinosaur of some kind though is to fit in with the theme of the patch. (:

Aye, these were delayed from 5.1.

Spirit Porcupine...pfft

They had SO many other models they could have made into a spirit beast, yet they chose that one.
