Thundering Hatchling

Just in case anyone doesn't follow the mounts thread, I'll link something of interest: "Destruction", an Alliance guild on Aman'thul (US-Oceanic) that has both the Thundering Hatchling minipet and Thundering Jade Serpent mount. One of the officers, Leorina, as been extremely kind and allowed a lot of Petopians to join.

If you're interested, the thread is here:

Any US subscriber can start a toon on an Oceanic server. They're all part of the US region, they just use a different server time. There are lots of North American Petopians on there already :)

yep! Also you can still mail account bound items to the server. just add -aman'thul to the name of your character.

Can they? Hmm....I might have to invest. Can't ever have too many alts, yeah?

Created a hunter (surprise surprise) named Lisaara!

I calculated how much gold, minimum, I have to make on each of my two toons to get the mounts and pets:
without taking into consideration ANY training, repairs, etc...
it amounts to 8,100g

I have trouble on my main server getting to 5k gold... I'm simply not good at farming up money in the game. So this is going to be a good exercise for me.

I need:
pets
-Armadillo pup
-Lil' Tarecgosa
-Serpent Hachling

mounts
-Dark Phoenix
-Thundering Jade Serpent

I'm not letting any potential gold get away, I'm picking up every single piece of vendor trash and selling it all off.

I had thought I might server-transfer one of my toons with some gold to help.. then I realized that all my toons are Horde! I wouldn't have been able to get the gold across anyway.
:-(

Sukurachi, you could farm some mini-pets on your main toon, then cage/sell it on the Oceanic toon. Easy way to get gold :D

If you really wanted to go so far as a server transfer I could help you move things over from the neutral AH but I'm pretty sure I have made about 11k leveling so far- but I do have skinning and mining to thank for some of that. Also I know it has been said before but you can make some fair cash just running old raids for pets and moving them over to aman. I just sent over tons of zandlari raptors myself and they have been selling well.
Also since you only need to buy one of each but have two toons you will have some extra gold to put into it.
Are you lvling to 85 or going all the way to 90? I can probably pitch in a little bit once you hit your stopping point.

thank-you for the suggestions Sylvia and Makoes.

sadly, I have to get two of each.
this is two separate accounts I have, each on a distinct b-net.

and yes, my plan was to stick it out to 90 and hopefully stay with the guild.

I thought faction transfer was offered as part of the server transfer process. But maybe I remember wrongly. Don't take my word on it :)

It didn't dawn on me until much later after posting that I COULD also faction transfer one of my horde toons when I did a server change.

I have a level 90 panda hunter I could use. It's not like making a panda go from Horde to Alliance changes much! LOL

EDIT********

faction change is $25, and server change is $30... so it IS a bit expensive.

just a reminder for those who don't yet know- when the MoP challenge modes are removed in a few weeks, guilds will no longer be able to obtain this pet since it requires a mop cm gold run with a guild group to unlock. guilds who have already earned the achievement should continue to have it available for purchase from the guild vendor.

Dang. I'm tempted, but the thought of having to level a toon to 85...ugh...

A few things that might make getting the thundering serpent hatchling easier:
  • You can check your realm's best times to search for a guild that has the achievement. Some of those guilds are selling CM runs, so they may also be willing to sell (or give) you a guild invite to get the minipet. As of MoP, when you change guilds (within 30 days of leaving your old guild) you retain some of your guild rep. You only go down one level, so if you have an alt that's exalted with your guild, you can leave, join the CM guild and be instantly revered (the required rep level for the minipet) with them. Then you can leave and rejoin your real guild (assuming someone online can invite), where you'll be honored until you build that rep back.
  • If making a new character, remember that humans have a bonus to rep gains. And you can mail an Illustrious or Renowned Guild Tabard cross realm and cross faction to your new character. Same goes for heirloom gear (for faster questing) and for Timeless Isle armor tokens (which vendor for 5g each). And of course, you can AH cageable minipets on your new server. Actually, there's a whole lot of BoA items you can vendor. If you're a Moneybags on your main server, then you could just buy 17-18 Renowned Guild Tabards (for around 1080g, assuming best case scenario) and vendor them on your new server. If not, then loot as many BoA items off the ground in Pandaria that you can and mail as many rep tokens from killing zandalari warscouts over.

it looks like this pet is currently missing from the guild vendors in WOD but still appearing in the BMAH. I would encourage everyone to grab this while they can just to be safe.

I didn't buy it when I had the chance and am in the guild on Aman'Thul does anyone know if we will still be able to buy it from guild vendors or am I screwed for not buying it sooner it was my guess once a guild opened it along with the mount it was there forever and if it is on the bmah is for those who aren't in a guild with it opened.

The thundering hatchling has now been removed from the guild vendor after the pre patch. if you did not get one before the patch then you can still obtain one in wod through the BMAH
