I'm going to be in New Zealand until the 30th. I will have net access a lot (but not all) the time, but please direct any issues that you'd like resolved quickly to SpiritBinder because I may not be able to get to them in a hurry, or have much time to take care of them.
I hope that's ok with SpiritBinder

Have a great trip! Take pictures of any reptiles you see for me so I can live vicariously through you!! Especially the goannas /monitors.

They will be skinks and geckos and maybe a tuatara if he goes to a zoo. Well goannas /monitors maybe at a zoo too.
We don't have as many reptiles as our Australian cousins sadly.

I think I had New Zealand confused with New Guinea.

I've seen tuataras and they're very cool. But probably not this trip
Much of NZ sank (like 20 mill. years ago) and then built up again from volcanism, so there's not a lot of original Gondwanaland stuff left. Pretty much every reptile except tuataras probably descended from
castaways that floated in from Australia and the Pacific millions of years ago and there are no native land mammals other than seals. As a result birds like kiwis started to fill the niches that small mammals normally occupied. I have been lucky enough to see kiwi in the wild but probably not this trip

Yeah we also have flying mammals that would rather walk then fly XD
Because of course NZ has to have more odd animals
