Hell Shell (untameable rare turtle??)

So I was doing some exploring at the Broken Shore and came upon this place called The Veiled Isles. Curious, I ran all the way to the end of the string of completely empty small islands, and at the very end found this guy.
I was rather surprised to find that he's not tameable.
Where he's located:
Killing him yields just this single item:

I saw the title, got the image in my head of a fel green version of the fire turtle (Terrorpene) and got excited. Missed opportunity blizz!

Be warned, this turtle hits like a ton of bricks. Driven by a semi.
While exploring around, I happened to find myself this way and decided to poke at Hell Shell. He proceeded to eat my pet in one bite, and then eat me in the second one!

Just a warning about this turtle, if you try and kite him through the water don't get to far away from the land or he will ""Despawn"" and then proceed to kill you from his invisible hiding spot...
He vanished, as if despawned/reset, and then I died to his attacks as he invisibly caught up to me.

I didn't try a tenacity pet...I grabbed my Boomkin friend and got her to pew pew him down (mind you I had Just dinged 110 that morning on my hunter)
We both got the Shell.

When I killed him, my tenacity specced pet (plus Apex Predator's Claw legendary, though it doesn't add to its hp) got chewed down just before Hell Shell died.

I keep forgetting to go over and see how tough he is to take out solo. I'll try to remember to check him out tonight. If he's too much for me to handle, I can always try to get a guildy or friend to help.

I had zero trouble in ~880 gear, BM. I don't know about other specs.

Yeah, I went over to his little island (that's a bit of a trek), expecting it to be a bit of a fight, but pretty much just blew him up. I pointed a couple PvP-oriented friends over there since they didn't know there was a new dismounting thingy for Legion.
