I don't think it's really acceptable in some cases. Like in WoD, where it was Boarlords of GoToTheShopnor. Sorry, but you can't add unique mounts to the shop and then give players the umpteenth boar recolour, especially when the boar animations have only been given a bandaid fix since 6.0. I agree....

That sucks. On the EU servers I play on (Steamwheedle Cartel and The Sha'tar) I haven't had any queues and only minor lag (though thanks to my crappy computer I always have some lag anyway). You could maybe add a comment to the White Riding Yak explaining that the other yaks in game will temporarily turn white if you take them through the Yak Wash in Kun-Lai. That may give some solace to people that want that colour.
