Well it appears that if someone hits the feather, we can't tame it. Camped the spot for an hour, a horde charcter Volteikae came in and tapped it the second it popped up and tamed it. Stole it. So nice of them.

I tend to throw a beast lore on the Korkron wolves every time I head into SoO. I know there is no reason for them to change them, but it's a habit now.
