a flow Ive found to work relatively reliably and after multiple fails is this:

Aggro>Trap>FD>FROM FD (this is the important part) toss the meat>Tame

This way from what Ive found, lets you toss the meat and get the thing on them while they arent aggro'd. I tried multiple way of unFDing and ...

Freeze Trap -> FD -> Use meat from FD directly -> Tame!

I had to set it up twice, I was too far away the first time I feigned and had to use my trap a second time so the CD's were lined up.

I was reading a lot of the messages here that it could be gated or related to an item or even reputation and the fact that they seem to "escape" in shadows.

My theory is we need that crystalline campfire that Toraan the Revered sells when you get to honored with the Argussian Reach reputation ...
