I too would prefer for hunter pet challenges to have....more substance. A little quest chain so that we have to prove ourselves worthy enough to be able to tame something would be nice. I saw some void raptors when the Alliance where invading zuldazar. I did not get to check as the invasion ran out :( They are in that primal scar place the void elves are making them. Had to go get this guy. Got another hunter (Rika) to go with me, and it went smoothly. Trying to solo it is rough. Tame is easy enough on normal.

KIlled Zul on heroic, the tome did not drop for either hunter on the kill.

Technically it's probably still the best, but, the heal is so small now that other choice may be a lot better..

Biggest issue with Animal Companion was the second pet's AI being worse than Hati in Legion. Does the second pet actually function like a proper pet now too? True, but those were cosmetics. I'm not against it being added as a raid drop, I just find it odd.

Also, given the greater extent of massive secret questlines these days, I'd more likely expect a 27-step questline than a raid drop.
