I'm good with the number I have. As it is I have 7 or so slots that are animals but not really pets. I think of it as they are just hanging out with my pets for awhile.

I've also found it useful when dealing with multiple pulls when pet tanking with other dps. Stone the first thing, blink to next, then taunt, etc....

You blow all your CDs at the start so you can refresh them with Readiness. Once they're refreshed then you (or at least I do) use them according to their priority.
