I don't think they'd reskin a blood tick for that type of nerubian, the bloodtick itself is uses the rigging of the nerubian flier. They'd probably just use the nerubian swarmer rigging if not the same model plus some tacking.

For the book and the tree, I think the rider's stance could make or break it. I think the surfing pose on either would detract too much.
