Well, there it goes. I ended up not being able to sleep tonight so I stayed online until the server shutdown and booted me off. That's the last time we'll see the original, classic Azeroth. /nostalgic teary moment

I felt like I was experiencing a New Year's Eve countdown or something in those final moments though. Here's to seeing you all after The Shattering! <3

Augh. I didn't spend ANY time in Pre-Patch Azeroth yesterday. And now it explodes today...

I find it appropriate to be watching the intro cinematic at this very moment.

Right now, Azeroth is being torn apart.

It is bizarre, exciting and scary all the same time

The elemental boss queues were up all night - I was able to get the last pieces on my undead warrior's wishlist (str dps ring and all 3 tank items for her offspec), along with a couple last minute achievements... after a couple weeks of people mostly only fighting to save org (almost like they didn't realize saving TB unlocked different bosses with their own loot...), no one bothering to use earthen ring totems and (recently) alliance yahoos showing up to help the elementals... it was very nice to be able to finally queue without having to worry it might be the last run before the queue timed out.

Now I'm as ready for cata as I can be...

I feel like I should be having a drink in the Restaurant at the end of the Universe right about now.

Shoot, I just realized I forgot to reset my hearth. I was so preoccupied trying to find the Large Loch Croc and OCJ last nigth that I forgot all about it.

And I didn't even find either of them!

I believe it means that you can buy tabards for each city that work like the Northrend tabards - wear them in dungeons to increase your reputation with that faction.

Ahem. I admire your optimism! And I hope the same, for everyone's sakes. But I'd still make sure you have some activity lined up to keep you busy, yeah?

2pm EST - "Servers are still down!" - "Learn2timezone it's not 11AM PST yet lol kthxbai"

3-4pm EST - "Any update?" - "Go outside or something!"

5pm EST - (blue post with hand typed "time stamp" saying 2pm EST) "Unfortunately it was necessary to bring servers down beyond the original scheduled time, next update at 5pm PST, we thank you for your patience"

In all seriousness, the original projected time was 11 am, but has already been pushed back to 1 pm.

I was being serious, sadly... but I was quoting from past "go-lives" - good to hear that they've at least been giving timely updates this time 'round.

Oh yes, I know; I've seen those updates too in the past. >_< But Blizzard at least KNEW up front with this patch that it was going to be difficult to implement.

And wow, they've already pushed the "servers up" time back to 5 pm. That was a BIG jump made early. They know that today is NOT the day to string us along.

5pm PST? That's .. 5 hours from now? Egad.

*nod* I was expecting as much, but I still wish they'd do the whole 'overestimate the time' thing. They should be well aware that realms would not be up by 11am....if they just flat out said a time late in the day, then delivered ahead of schedule it would be better than stringing us along hour by hour with updates.

But if they do that, people might complain and demand a free day of gameplay because the servers weren't up for most of the day. At least that's why I've assumed Blizzard does things that way. I'd prefer it if they were up front with us and we just got to sneak in "early" if they overestimated.
