One of my first MUD characters -- who stuck with me in various forms through multiple games -- was named Varanus. Eventually I started hitting a lot of name filters though (it's the 'anus' at the end) and gave it up for a feminized version, Varana. There are 56 characters named Varanus on US realms, and 80 named Varana.

There is one character named Exanthe and exactly one Prasina. There are 101 characters named Naja and one named Naîa. (I'm not fond of using extended characters, but sometimes it's necessary.)

There are also 6 characters named Nefane -- two of which are me -- but unlike the others Nefane has nothing to do with reptiles.

And there are 91 Manias.

Teigan: There are 52 Teigans, myself included. All except 6 are female. Most of them are human, followed by Bloodelf. I am however the only dwarf!

Gryselde: There are only 3 Gryseldes, including myself. (yay!) The other two are female, gnome and human.

Kalpana: 28 Kalpanas. Female except for two and mostly humans.

Grakashaku: Figures my only unique name is a bank toon!

Seema: 47 Seemas. Female except for 4 of them, mostly human and bloodelf.

I've "had" Noor for 15 years now as my online persona, starting back in various chat rooms and The Realm. Just, you know, to clarify this. However, SoE is the only WoW Realm where Noor has been available. And I understand why, now.

Well I already looked up Vephriel, but let's see what the results are for my many, many alts.

Sergra - My Orc hunter. There are 57 including my own character. Not surprised since she's named after the well-known NPC in The Crossroads.
Decaydra - Undead warlock. There are only 3 others besides myself. :3 It was just a name I made up to suit a female undead.
Misty - My Blood Elf paladin. Lol, 132 results for this name. I was surprised it was free when I made her. x)
Zalazane - Troll priest. 100 results, again not surprised. A famous Troll 'villain'...I'm glad I got the name before the big Echo Isles event. =)
Spiders - Blood Elf death knight. She's among 86 with that name.
Sinthia - Undead warrior. 117 results.
Virtue - Future Undead hunter. 106 results. :3
Mecha - Future Goblin shaman. 103 in total, I was thrilled to find it available.
Vezendi - Future Troll druid. No results, it's unique! xD I made this name up ages ago for a crocodile character of mine. Not a fursona or anything like that, just an animal representation of my anger. I really wanted to use this name for a Troll, and I think the druid will be perfect for it.

Then my neglected Alliance alts that I don't really play. xD

Synaeve - Night Elf hunter. There's only 1 other person with this name. I just started reading the Wheel of Time books and was inspired by the name Nynaeve in there. I just replaced the N with an S.
Gwynna - Dwarf hunter. 68 results on the armory. It's a real name, so I know there will be many others. I just thought it suited her perfectly.

Overall most of my character's names are quite common since I like using real word names, but I don't mind. Having my main character unique with no others using her name is good enough for me. :3

The names I've picked that have meanings seem to be fairly popular because I guess people had the same idea that I did. Raniya appears 22 times on the US armory, for example. Another character I have I wanted to call Tivona but it was taken on the realm I was on (there are at least 100 of them) so I went for a variation of that, Tivoni (only 30 show up).

On the other side of the coin my made up names tend to be unique (that's not always the case, but mostly). My main character, Gerwanra, belongs to me on both the US and EU armory... even if I haven't been on the latter servers in years. I'm really surprised she still shows up there!

There are a lot of Kaylai's. I'm not surprised, I kinda took the name off of wowwiki. xD
There are a lot of Chaia's.
There are SO MANY Parachute's and Lightbulb's. (That's what I get for naming my characters after random stuff)
The lest original name I have is my arsenal is No. There are so many No's.

My original character name - Valassah - has 2, but they're both mine. I name-changed her back to Arcadia. Of which there are boatloads. -_-

My druid Shatterclaws shares a name with a mid30s NE druid but he's inactive.

23 people have Soulswallow. Not as many DKs with it as I figured there would be.
