They're also all based on the Alliance gryphon mount animations.

I believe the animations for the gryphons and the Winged Guardian are actually different.

The flying animation is identical to the gryphon. The model's ground movements, idle, and mountspecial are different than the gryphon, though. The mountspecial is more like the drake's. And the ground head-turns are like those of the cats. Really, a nice little mash-up of a mount in that!

*nodnod* Yeah, they're definitely a mash-up, but they seem to use the gryphon as a base which was built on from there.

Ah, I was thinking of the flying idle animations, which the gryphon I know doesn't do. (When it kinda spazzes out in the air... xD Dunno how to explain it.)

It looks like hippos when it does that to me, Everdeen.

Griffins do the 'air roar' thing, and so do the Winged Guardians. It probably just looks different on the quilen because of how it holds its head.

Maybe it's because I don't play Alliance but I could've *sworn* the gryphons didn't do the air roar thing. ._. Oh well lol.

Edit: No, I'm sure of it. Gryphons do the roar once, but the Winged Guardian actually looks like it's climbing through the air a little and roaring at the same time.

The gryphons do the air climb too.

<---plays alliance ;)

I'm not sure who brought it up where, but...

Looks like they're wanting to change how Heroic Madness and Heroic Ragnaros mounts work for MoP, but haven't decided on details.

The Quilen you get with the deluxe/collector's edition seems to have that Ban'thalos wing effect going on. I like it.

The wings also vanish completely when it's on the ground, which makes it MUCH less cognitively dissonant when you're on someone who can't fly. It -looks- like a ground mount on the ground, and has wings when flying! Awesome.

I saw this too, and My heart sank a little. But hey, it's not like i didn't expect it. All I know is that out guild could so down HM rags weekly atm, but after we got DW HM, people just hung up the raiding boot, logged of and said..."See ya when Mists come out!"
Unfortunately not many of them are interested in the shiny mounts and what not, just the progression. I really do like the fire bird...
I just wonder if they are going to remove the low % drop rate from normal then? If they don't, at least there may be a snowballs chance in firelands to grind and solo it one day... maybe, but with the HM mechanics... I just don't ever see it happening :(

This. I love how the wings vanish on the ground! It'll make much more sense than being on an alt on a Winged Guardian who keeps jumping around and just somehow cannot fly.

Maybe. I remember a lot of damage flying around even on normal Ragnaros, so it may not be until later on in Mists until we can solo it...but I can still see a small group tackling it much like you can take 5-10 people into 25-man Ulduar today! ... *dissolves into muttering at Kologarn and his blasted arms*

Edit: With today's MMO-Champion post comes...

Flying

Ashen Pandaren Phoenix is no longer Account Wide.
Crimson Pandaren Phoenix is no longer Account Wide.
Dark Phoenix is no longer Account Wide.
Emerald Pandaren Phoenix is no longer Account Wide.
Violet Pandaren Phoenix is no longer Account Wide.

Ground

Golden King is no longer Account Wide.
Kor'kron Annihilator is no longer Account Wide.

I can see why they did this, to be honest. Dark Phoenix and Golden King are reputation-grind mounts, but they're meant as a reward for getting a character in a guild to Exalted. If I remember right, Golden King is still BoA so that's not such a huge thing, although some will be disappointed by not having a Dark Phoenix on everything. As for the phoenixes?

...Come to think of it, I'm a little confused by the phoenixes. It would make sense if the Challenge Mode achievement isn't account-wide--it gives you incentive to get the achievement on multiple characters. If it is an account-wide achievement...uh...why not let us have it on all characters if we'll only ever get it once, unless they mean it to be like the Gladiator mounts? That could be what they're aiming for, but I kind of hope they're not.

I've got to say I'm rather disappointed by the phoenixes decision, although I do well see where did it came from. I was just hoping about doing the achi on my 4 characters and 'unlocking' the 4 colours.

I hope they'll implement a way for the characters that has earned the achi to be able to access more than that one, initially chosen colour.

Do we have an idea when this stuff will be posted on warcraftmounts.com? There are SO MANY new mounts coming out and everything is all jibbered to me it is hard to know what is what. :( I just want a good clean detailed list of what mount comes with what faction, which are drops, which are achievements, etc. I know there are a few that are not for sure.

I hope that doesn't sound bad. <.< I don't mean it too. It is awesome with what we do have but I am such an organized person, I like seeing everything layed out nicely so it is easier to understand. lol I'm weird...I know. >.>

Which, I think I do remember seeing something like what I am saying I just can't seem to locate it. Not sure if it was on here or MMO or something...o.o

Kasstra, on the Warcraft mounts, main page, at the very top in blue writing is this: Updates to the site may be delayed for a little while. [more]

I know. I saw that post a while back. I frequent the site. It is why I was more of hoping for a list somewhere else. Though it does raise the question, can Mania not have someone take over the reins and update the mount site while she recovers?

**Edit: Also, I didn't know if she had updated on here when she may be able to update the site which is why I asked do we know when the site will be updated.

***Edit #2: I found what I was looking for for the most part. Pretty much explains what I was wanting to know.
