Dreadtusk Tamable?

Unread post by Tsaikojen »

On the quest [Testing The Antidote] your to apply the antidote to Hulking Helboar (Red/Black). In doing so, you transform them into Dreadtusk (Black/Green). Did not see them labled anywhere here and sinse their only available for a 60ish quest I'm not sure if any beta testers have tried them yet.

From what I understand...ALL helboars are tameable.

I haven't tried it yet. Not sure if anyone else has. At least that colour is also available in SMV on Felboars. :)

I checked the tamable pets and noticed the Black/Green hellboar from SMV was listed, but that is the only one. Dreadtusk is a spawned hellboar, kinda.

That would be fascinating, if the "spawned" version turns out to be an utterly different mob which retains the new coloring. I foresee bugs!

Well so far I never got it to spawn in the first place after the patch. And I zapped around 50 hellboars for the damned antidote quest.

It's possible the dreadtusk itself was the bug.

It was bugged for awhile, and didn't work at all, but was fixed a few months ago I think. Could be wrong on dates though!

I'm unsure if you mean the dreadtusk appearing was a bug- or not appearing. Because if it was the latter, that's when I did the antidote quest the day the 4.0.1 patch was released live, and nada.

Funny thing is I've never seen Dreadtusk in black/green unless I come across someone else doing the quest or find it's corpse. The boar that I convert as part of the quest always looks like the boar it was before for me! (red)

I've not tried taming him as I would have done that quest a long time ago.

Not appearing was a bug. He's meant to grow massively large; I don't know about the color. But for awhile a he didn't appear at all, though that was fixed--if you're saying it happened again recently, then the bug may well have reared its head again : /

They're still demons on live. We're waiting for the Sundering for any of the hellboars to become tameable.

Yeah, they're still Demons on Live. Just a little bit longer! :D

If I remember right, they do have a color change when it is transformed. It goes from being Red with black spikes to red with reddish spikes. Lemee see if I can find a WoWhead... Okay, I'm misremembering. They stay the same color. Under Dreadtusk though, apparently (according to the comments) with 4.0.1 Dreadtusks are Gray with Green spikes; so the same ones in SMV, I believe. o:

I've done that quest four times, and everytime I've done it Dreadtusk was Green... Also, whenever i saw someone else doing it he turned green...

I suspect this is a client-side bug, then. I've done it on all 6 of my 80's (with a couple tries on my hunter to see if it was tamable) and I've never seen him change color.

I feel like I can say with certainty that it will happen "soon (tm)".

Seriously, though. I just looked at the calendar and with 4.0.3 tomorrow, according to MMO-Champion, that means we'll see the shattering in 2 weeks tops, possibly even next week. 0_0
