Potential list of new rare beasts?

As I was sifting through the loads of datamined information on the MMO-Champion database, I decided to do a search for rare beasts out of curiosity, and was quite surprised by the sheer number of unfamiliar names gracing each family of beasts. Almost all of them have a recent NPC ID close to that of some confirmed new rare spawns, which probably means they haven't just been sitting unused in the game files for who knows how long.

I was particularly intrigued by addition of rares to multiple families that formerly lacked them, like warp stalkers and dragonhawks, and it raised my hopes that maybe some formerly unused or extinct skins could now be tamable, and are just waiting to be found somewhere out there in the world (Perhaps they could be found in old areas like the Netherstorm and Eversong Woods?).

Of course, many of these creatures might not actually spawn yet, and many might not ever. I just found it interesting, and thought maybe it could spark some ideas for search locations.

Hmm, seems a few rares are missing from the list other than spirit beasts. Such as Humar the pride lord. Sambas also seems to be classified as a scorpid. :S

One guy on this list stands out to me. Karoma <The Wolf Spirit>. Could we be seeing the ghost wolf back as a tamable?! *crosses fingers*

I think I may have to hop on the beta and see if I can help Wain out in finding these beauties.

Well First there no Pictures of the Rares that you listed so how do i know if they look kewl or sexy or not ? lolz

Nice find If you add a filter of ids greater than 49000 you still get 303 beasts. That's a truck load of new rare spawns. Way more than enough to take care of every untameable skin we know of, several times over. I wonder how many will make it into the game.

Oddly, Ghostcrawler is listed as a crab not a spirit beast. Perhaps it's guessing the family based on known models, rather than family data. Some of the others could likewise be potential spirit beasts. A number of the unclassified ones are obviously (by name) foxes, dogs, beetles and monkeys, suggesting that they are classifying them based on already-classified models.

I also wonder how many could be based on skins that BLizzard have but have never been included in the game databases we download. For example there's a Dragonhawk called Verdantis, but there aren't any green dragonhawk skins. Very interesting, anyway

Note Chrominius in the Core Hounds? Note the similarity in name to the name of a boss from Blackwing Lair that I have in the untameable skins list? There are four rare Core Hounds. I wonder whether the rest are all just known colours or if there are some we haven't seen yet That family currently has one of the least skin varities of any. Even spirit beasts have more!

I think it also should be noted that not all of these might be implemented at one time. Mmo-champions is reliable but some of their information isn't immediate. They data-mine the current builds and such. Which would completely explain why Ghostcrawler is a crab and not a spirit beast (like mentioned above); it's a crab model.

I dunno, I can see a Blistermaw. Maw, meaning mouth, Blister... Well. Maybe...maybe he's diseased? I vaguely remember seeing a diseased bronze drake model recently. Could also be blisters from eating too much citric acid.

I heard that there are portals that spawn creatures in Mazthoril, Winterspring, that need to be sealed as part of a quest.

Is it possible that maybe rares could come out of those periodically, like the portals summoned by the Scarshield Warlocks in LBRS?

Each portal only spawns a particular type of mob. Only two spawn mobs from tameable families (though all are currently untameable). I've run back and forth killing and resetting maybe a dozen times and not seen anything different spawn. One spawns green warp stalkers only (the same as the chasm stalker / Phase-Hunter kind). The other spawns ravagers in (from memory) 3-4 colours. One of those colours is a skin that hasn't been used before. The rest aren't.
